According to Ken Davidoff and the protective shield that is subscription-only Newsday, Damon wants a long-term deal because he feel he deserves it and he wants to the chance to approach career “magic numbers.” Michelle Damon added that three teams have already called to express interest.
Anyone who thought Damon was going to take a short-term deal just because he loves the “mystique and aura” was living in la-la land. There is no disconnect between Damon and Boras. The only way he takes less years is if that’s what the market dictates. And if someone is willing to give a long-term deal to a 36-year old poor defensive outfielder, then go Johnny go!

Boras keeps saying that Damon deserves Abreu money. He never specifies if he’s referring to 2009 Abreu money or the 2010 contract. If he’s talking 2010 Abreu money, I’d like to meet his crack dealer because that shits outta site

Maybe we should get Vlad and Damon. Put on a defensive shift to left field. Have Johnny catch the ball and pass it to Vlad to hurl it all the way back to the infield. Let Gardner patrol all of center and right.
