Quick Analytical Blurbs

It was a bad idea to begin with, and one that was being aggressively pushed by various media folk. Why? We have no idea. But fortunately, one of this offseason's most overrated free agents, Mark DeRosa, has signed a 2-year deal with the SF Giants.

So happy that the Giants got this done. Didn’t want to see this washed up never was on the Yankees. One of he most over rated players on the market.

There is a difference between not wanting him and not wanting him at a certain price. There are very few free agents I would not want. I would love Mark DeRosa. . .at utility infielder pay (no more than $2 million). Would you want him if the price was much lower and as a utility infielder? I would.

  3. Backup D3 Center says:

Mark DeRosa defense as an infielder sucks. He is not league average at any infield position defensively; in fact, Cody Ransom is probably a better defender. Stop getting mesmerized by people name value and actually watch their game value, please

My guess is the Yankees wanted him to back up every position but start him in left until he was needed. I wonder if this means they’ll bring back Jerry jr.

I agree backup. I watched him play and he’s even worse in the outfield. He seems lost out there. Maybe he’s a below average 2B, but he’s a far below average OF…that’s for sure.

  6. Voomo Zanzibar says:

okay, i’m glad they didnt sign Derosa, too – but you cant blame them for looking at a guy with a league average bat who can at least knock a few balls down on the left side of the infield…

…’cause what happens if the captain or that other guy get hurt?

These dudes got 324 plate appearances last year.
    Angel Berroa: .136 .174 .182 .356
    Cody Ransom: .190 .256 .329 .585
    Ramiro Pena: .287 .317 .383 .699
    Jerry Hairston:.237 .352 .382 .733

Whadda ya say we trade The Farm + Joba for HANLEY RAMIREZ – and put Hanley in LF (literally watching Derek and Alex’s backs)!

Pena has defensive value. He should be on the bench.

Voomo- that “watching Derek and Alex’s back” joke has been made elsewhere, way to try and sound original (it was dumb the first time)

Dammit it wasnt a homo reference.
    I just want Hanley.
Why doesnt anyone else want Hanley?

  10. Butcher says:

Because Hanley isn’t even close to being available. If you’re the Marlins…opening a new stadium…and have one of the top players in the game..face of the franchise under lock for two more years…

Why would you even consider trading him now? Do you even have any idea what it would take to get him?

Because even I can’t think of a package…taking into all I have said…that could land him.

$40 million+ in free money every year?

  12. Nate says:

Out in Giants turf I can tell you DeRosa is actually an offensive upgrade wherever they put him. Just be thankful you don’t have to watch the likes of Randy Winn in the #2 spot on a daily basis
Are the Marlins even getting a new stadium? Methinks not and I hope Ca$h has a jolly man of Cuban-descent near the ear of the Marlin’s GM.

It would take a SS, a 3B, an outfielder, two starting pitchers, and 16 partidges in 4 pear trees.
    I know.

And I have no idea how to make that happen, either.

But, see, Somebody can figure it out.
Like Brian Ca$hman and the entire nomaas board.
    I’m just the idea man.

The Marlins won 87 games last year (and have promising young pitchers).
If they could fill their gaping holes so that they look like a contender they’ll consider unloading “the face” a year and a half early.
