Scott Boras on Johnny Damon having the genetics of Yoda:
…chronological age seems to be a huge issue for the media with Johnny Damon…I can cite you many players that perform at very high levels at 38 to 42, better than players at 30 to 34…In Johnny’s case, his production, his body type, who he is as an athlete, he is not measured by the customary gauge of a player.

Every offseason Damon sheds his exoskeleton, this is why he is invulnerable to normal human aging.

Haha good one, makes perfect sense.

every offseason damon sheds the muscle tissue in his left shoulder, this is why he continually has the most feared outfield arm in baseball

I smell desperation after the granderson move by cash money outflanked Scott b.

even if boras is right, the market has dictated that younger OFs (bay, holliday) will only be commanding 4 year deals means that someone at damon’s age and limitations can’t possibly get more than 2 years from a contending team
if he wants to go play 4 years at houston he can be our guest i’m sure. ed wade definitely wouldn’t have a problem doing that given his current offseason decimation of the astros for the next 3-5 years or so.

I’d rather put Melky in LF then over pay and give Damon 4 years.
Hopefully they can get Sheets on the cheap. I think Sheets as a 4th starter makes this team very tough.

A 147-year contract seems a bit long to me. If we could bring it down to the 120-year range at about $1.7 billion with another $80 trillion in bonuses, I think the Yankees might be more amenable. And then Boras could live out his dream of being a disembodied head attached to a robot, destined to be an agent until the end of time.

“chronological age”-awfully redundant there, Boras
Mister Huge Cock December 11, 2009 10:37
you are all morons

I hope the Yankees invest heavily this offseason in a geneticist so that these claims may be properly researched. Personally, I think the billions and billions would be better spent on a genetic engineer, who could encode Cano’s DNA so that he is more selective at the plate, and perhaps genetically engineer a way to keep Swisher’s mouthpiece from extruding after a plate appearance.

This Boras bs is just him pandering to potential clients. GMs don’t listen and neither should fans.
Jason O. December 11, 2009 14:53
Of course, Scott: All of these players who have performed at very high levels from 38-42 yrs. of age were on juice and HGH.

Boras just loves to piss on people and tell them its raining… surely his favorite thing in the world to do.

Damon is this year’s Abreu. Instead of 4/52 or 3/39 he will get 1/8
