ESPN: the barometer of intelligent sports analysis. “The Yankees are going to win the division because they know how to win and they’ve been there before.” I just made a point that ESPN analysts will repeat 100 times between now and the start of the season. It’s really nothing to brag about. (Sorry, BernieWilliamsDay. I know it floods the boards, but I can’t help myself. Back to real baseball stuff now)

I have to think on the scale of things fans consider when they vote for All Stars, defense is almost non existent. It’s a combination of longevity, holy trinity stats and Q-score.

have to ask – is there really that much of a defensive drop off between Gardner and Granderson? Gardner obviously has the speed to track down balls and has a much better arm than I’d heard, but didn’t Granderson start the All Star Game last year? i haven’t seen him play many games, so i don’t feel I can properly gauge his speed, glove or arm strength properly. If they’re both as good and as fast as i think they are, they can both take a step toward right field and give Swish a hand; not picking on Swish, but he’s clearly the weakest link out there defensively… still can’t believe he hit so many more home runs on the road than at home… maybe this year… anyway, don’t argue with the Butcher, it clogs up the boards
