CHONE loves Melky Cabrera

Quick Analytical Blurbs

Not this Chone, but CHONE the projection system is predicting some huge things for Melky Cabrera in 2010: .296/.367/.441

That would be a 92 point jump over his career OPS and a 56 point jump over his 2009 OPS. That's nowhere close to what any other systems are projecting for him. CHONE also says that Melky will be worth about $15 mil in 2010.

Is there anywhere to place a bet on this?

The same system is also predicting that I will hit 14 home runs next year and be worth 5.1 million. Can I get that paid in full please?

Please call me once you finish your 2010 campaign. I would like to pay you a ton of money.

    Thank you

There is nowhere to place a bet on this because there are only 7 nerds in the whole world who follow this stupid projection system, and they all work at nomaas.

Really, why all the hating on a Yankees Centerfielder Right After They Won the World Series?

    Bernie, age 20, AA-AAA
    .239 ba .399 slg

    Melky, age 20, AA-AAA
    .269 ba .402 slg

Bernie, through age 24 in the bigs
    .262 .339 .388 .726

Melky, through age 24 in the bigs
    .269 .331 .385 .716

Smaller sample size for Bernie, yes, but the point is that you guys are assholes. Melky was a good organizational player, he earned a ring, and on any other team (except Boston and maybe the fucking Mets) he would still be around at age 26 to have his breakout year.

Glad we got Grandy, but really guys, show some more respect.

Voomo, are you really expecting these pole grabbers to show respect to any player with an OBP under .400? These are the same tool pouches that rode Nick Johnson’s injury-riddled, had-one-full-season OBP sausage and insulted Randy Johnson, one of the best pitchers of all-time, in the same week.

I like this anonymous forum format, but i would sure love to know how old everybody is.

I’m in my 30′s, which is old enough to remember Gary Ward’s .291 obp roaming the outfield.

And that was in a year which we won 89 games… and finished 4th, when fucking Pinella just cashed it in the final three games when we were BEHIND BY 3.5 GAMES with a rainout to make up in Texas in case we won all three games and Detriot lost all three games (which they did, blowing it to Boston, who we could have tied).

    This is from memory.
    Maybe i have it wrong.
Maybe Wayne Fucking Tolleson was a faulty memory, too.

And Oscar Azocar. And Bob Geren.
    And Alvaro motherfucking Espinoza.

    Espinoza made me Hot-For-Tolleson.
    Blowers. Mike. Ugh.

This is 1990 we are reminiscing about.
    20 Years.
The ONLY good hitter on that team, Mattingly included, was Kevin Christian Maas.

    I’d prefer 25 Melkys.
Like Melky crawls through the Melky Malkovich hole and suits up a team. And buys some hot dogs from Steve Balboni on the way to the field.

CHONE has Papelbon better than MO. Please do not let Paps read this, he will go hire Boras and go on a Terell Owens type tear through the league…

Well he put up avg offensive numbers last year as a CF so playing the feeble NL East playing in 36 games against the NATS And METS might actually help the Melk Man produce those numbers.

I don’t mean to ruin anyone’s mocking Melky fun and I was not opposed to the trade for Vasquez but there are many baseball people that think the Melk man’s best years are ahead of him. Personally I believe he will average 15 homers, a near 300 batting average and an above average on base percentage during his peak years. A switch hitter who plays good outfield defense is a valuable major league ballplayer. It doesn’t surprise me that Atlanta chose Melky over Gardner.
