With estimates ranging from 50,000 dead to hundreds of thousands, we thought it was only right to use our readership to do something positive for the people of Haiti. The country is already the poorest country in the Americas and the post-earthquake images we’ve seen are truly horrific. There is no infrastructure. Bodies are being thrown into dump trucks. Children lay dead on the streets. It’s really awful. We encourage all NoMaasians to contribute whatever they can to help survivors and those humanitarians who have rushed to Haiti to offer their assistance.

Major League Baseball, 29 of its teams, MLB Network and MLB.com donated $1 million to Haiti… the Yanks donated $500,000 in their own separate transaction. Gangster.
In a related story, the New York Mets donated $16.1 Million to Carlos Beltran.

Major League Baseball taxed $100,000 out of the Yankees’ $500,000 donation and divided it among the small market teams so they could donate a small portion to Haiti and use the rest to install a waterfall in their owners’ pools.

The Red Sox sent Jonathan Papelbon over to help with the recovery efforts. Soon after landing, Paps stated that his recovery and life saving efforts can only be compared to Jack Bauers, and he feels he should be paid as such…

Umm, Yele Haiti is Wyclef Jean’s personal bank. I suggest we don’t donate anything there for it will only wind up in that crook’s pocket.
