You know it would be nice if once a player was like “i wouldn’t mind taking a small pay cut to stay with a team I love with the greatest fans in the game, and a chance to win a world series every year..”. I’m not holding my breath, but wouldn’t it be nice if Jeter offered to take a little less, instead of it being all on the team having to offer too much to keep a guy? Maybe in a perfect world.

Johnny had Boris for a agent. It cost him a shot at another world series. The players want to Keep using a gold digger like Boras who is more worried about HIS payday than the player. Damon is and was a good fit for us but after the Crap Boras pulled with A-Rod it is a wonder why players keep the gold digger as a agent. He is over rated.

Johnny’s worth exactly what someone will pay him which is currently a hell of a lot lower then 13 mil a year. My guess is he is hurting on money. Between losing money in the Madoff crap and that trophy wife of his, he is probably living paycheck to paycheck. I remember an interview last spring when his money was frozen briefly during the Madoff investigation, he said it was tough because he had a mortgage to pay. Mortgage? Seriously? When you make 13 million a YEAR?

Hmmm, Jeter was the 2nd best offensive shortstop in the majors last season and in the top 5 defensively. Me thinks it may be more difficult to find a shortstop as good as Jeter v. finding a defensively challenged noodle-armed left-fielder.
