Despite having one of oldest teams in baseball last season (although the age is trending lower), the Yankees were extremely fortunate to stay relatively injury-free in 2009. In 2010, which Yankee will not be so lucky?

Healthy teams have better records with their health. Gamers will always be more healthy than guys who are always injured.

Joe, you forgot to mention that the key to the performance of healthy gamers is their consistency.

I think we really dodged a bullet with A.J last year, with him making 33 starts. He wasn’t the best at all times, but he was surprisingly durable. I think this year is the year in which he hits the shelf like he has in the past.

I see AJ taking a nice 15 day stint somewhere in July. Jorge will be on vacation for most of May. A-Rod won’t show up again until sometime in June. Somehow this group wins the AL east.

AJ hasn’t missed a start in 2 1/2 seaons.
When is it time to let it go?
The guy had arm trouble in his mid-20′s. Since then, he’s been very durable.
In other words, he’s a pitcher.

I’d say Popo and OBP Jesus both spend at least 2 weeks on the dl, if not more. In terms of pitchers I think Andy is the guy most likely to get hurt. His elbow hasn’t acted up recently, but he’s getting legit old for a pitcher. He always had the history of elbow issues, no less likely then AJ taking time off.

Johnson: He’s as sturdy as a Leper in a wind tunnel.
But he has GREAT OBP!!11!!1

I think Jorge will break down this year if they don’t try and get Cervelli at least 40-50 starts. They have to be super careful with Jorge.
I advocate DHing Jorge quite a bit this year. Think about it…keeps his bat in the lineup. I actually like the idea of giving up offense to have a solid defensive catcher.

Got to be jorge… surprised he did not hurt in self in above mentioned charity softball game…
