The Hooooooooooo Train

Quick Analytical Blurbs

Don't think the move is anything more than this.

The Yankees use $1.2 million (that's like $5.00 for us) to take a chance on a guy who has been quite serviceable in the bullpen over the past 2 seasons:

120 IP, 118 H, 7.57 K/9, 2.29 K/BB, 0.75 HR/9, 3.29 ERA

120 IP over 2 years, and certainly the mere 50 IP out of the pen in 2009, are enough to throw up the Drudge Report-esque sample size sirens. As such, one can logically foresee Park getting lit up.

But, maybe this opens up some new options (trading Mitre who makes $850k?). We could end up with a Park + X > Mitre. Time will tell. For now, we got a Ho from a different area code.

Plus, he does look like Steve Bedrosian and he was pretty good.

I think it’s pretty likely that Mitre gets moved at the end of ST to a team looking for a starter.

Park is another arm to throw into the mix and his salary isn’t going to be an issue if he can’t hack it. Decent depth move.

The more guys that can stick in the bullpen, the less the temptation to yank the loser of the Joba/Phil battle out of building his innings in AAA.

I thought baseball-reference.com showed people’s nicknames on their main page. I clicked the Steve Bedrosian link and was shocked when the name “Bedrock” was nowhere to be found.

  8. This is going to make my time at the golf course more interesting this summer. Mostly Korean guys there that hardly cared about baseball until the World Series came around and they started rooting for CHP.

after getting rid of that porno freak with the huge earlobes, I thought we’d be chink-free this year. hey, at least we don’t have to worry about any dogs getting loose on the field.

  10. maybe CHP is going to be the mop up man, the guy they throw to the wolves to make emergency starts. Remember when Aceves had to make that start against the Twins and wasn’t available for the series in Anahiem? This year, you let CHP get slapped around in that scenario, and you bring him in when the yankees are hammering the Royals 11-1 in the 5th inning and let him finish the game (uhm final score 15-11 yankees?) – otherwise, not sure what they signed him for. but that’s why the yankees haven’t hired me to work in their front office, i guess

    Chan will pitch a no-hitter,
have three saves in July when Mo’s arm hiccups,
and he will hit a home-run as a pinch hitter.

Kevin Towers needs to stop recommending NL West rejects to Ca$hmoney. First Winn, now Park… I even heard Brian Giles was almost a Yankee. Are we going to take a flier on Khalil Greene too? If we stop feeding Towers, perhaps he’ll just bother someone else?
