SMALL MARKTER SOX AT $137,030,000.00
Yankees came in at 19th: $19,800,000.00
It’s tough to be a small market team like the Boston SAAAAAAWWWWWWWX.
That’s kind of a silly point, Butcher. A MLB team only needs so many players; it would have been next to impossible for the Yanks to match the Sox in spending this year after spending $423 million on free agents last off-season.
In general, though, you’re right: Sox fans have no right to bitch about the Yankees’ big spending because they do it, too.

I get that, but I think your point would have been better made if you just said “the Sox spent $137 million in free agency.” Where the Yanks rank is irrelevant because they spent all of their money in 2009. I guess it’s just semantics – whatever.
