VOTE: Will this Ho be pitching in a different area code?

In signing Chan Ho Park, the Yankees are clearly throwing sample size to the wind and hoping that an old dog has learned new tricks. For short money at $1.2 million, we're not going to get all bent out of shape on this one. But the fact remains that the Yankees are hoping his 50 innings of relief work in 2009, at the tender age of 36, are more representative of his bullpen skillset than his 1,733 innings as a starter.
After all, Brian Cashman was quoted on Monday saying:
"We've noticed a change in his abilities, so we stayed in the loop," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said on Sunday. "Out of the bullpen, his stuff was different."
We hope C-Money's scouts are correct, but at the same time, we wouldn't be surprised to see hitters go bananas on Chan Ho.
So we ask you, the NoMaas visitor, the following question...

The right arm of park in the photoshop is eerily skinny.
Traded to the Dodgers on June 1st for the rights to keep Jamie Hoffmann
He’ll probably be like Aceves.
Why not trade him to Queens at when it becomes clear they have no rotation whatsoever?
Hmph. Gay.
DFA’d by June a la Brett Tomko, LaTroy Hawkins, Scott Erickson, Aaron Small, etc.
Replaced by Melancon July 1st. Melancon breaks the all time record by hitting 55 batters in just 28 IP. Melancon is killed in his hotel room by season’s end, found with a baseball shoved down his throat and a bat shoved up his ass. Police are unsure if it was an angry opponent or one of his teammates.
It’s unreal that this guy is on the team.
It’s unreal that this guy is on the team.
why?
Can’t get the Ludacris song out of my head now. Thanks.
Steve,
I don’t see any way this guy’s stint in a Yankee uniform doesn’t end in disaster. He’s going to give up some real moonshots at the new stadium. I hope it pans out, but I am 99% sure it’s going to be a terrible signing.
For the record, Park allowed 0 HRs last season.
Joba and Hughes have been below average starters (though with upside) and the move to the bullpen made them look like the next coming of Mo. Obviously the bullpen is a different animal. I think there’s a chance Ho is good enough for the BP

So, what you are saying is that a guy who has thrown almost 2000 innings to an ERA of about 4.35 is completely incapable of putting up an ERA around 4 out of the bullpen? That it’s impossible? And while I acknowledge that an ERA around 4 is nothing to write home about, it’s a far, far cry from a “disaster”.
Also, the amount of money at stake makes it almost impossible to be a “terrible signing”. If he doesn’t work out, you dump him and eat a few hundred grand. It’s not like someone else isn’t going to pick him up and let you off the hook for the pro-rated minimum. There is almost no risk here.
He’ll be just fine.
Yay Pudding!
I dont think he will make or break the 2010 yankees.
Are you kidding! Chan Ho Park!!! I’d rather take my chances with the Green Giant Ho! Ho! Ho!
That was a really funny post.
i think he’ll be OK with the Yankees because i dont think he’ll be put in a stress roles – its not like he’s going to be setting up for Mo. He’s just another arm out of the pen.
Speculation:

Is it weird that he hasn’t come close to his career stats when he plays for anyone else besides the Dodgers? Biased stats suck ass. And an extra $1.2 maybe lands a better 4th OF’r than Winn. Waste of perfectly good Ca$hmoney.
A hot Ho is better than a limp Wang.
Next stop, the Cubs, after the Yanks release me in June.
Chan Ho Park telling it like it is folks.
HAHA, Chan Ho Park speaks.
Hi, I read this site once, then lost it. Took me forever to come back and find it. I wanted to view what comments you got. Nice blog by the way.
