Michael Kay opened up the yankees 2010 season by saying “Welcome to Baltimore, as the yankees take on the red sox from Fenway Park”. Someone who botches their first words of the season should definitely be a choice.
I think the pollsters got it right….Buck/McCarver…help! Where’s my remote so I can mute these two?? Joe Morgan definite 2d!! The most annoying announcers ever to hit the boob tube…maybe that’s where the name “boob” tube came from….
Chip Caray is also in contention.

I think the Hawk would have gotten more votes if he was “national”. Unless you have had the pleasure to listen to that shameless homer call a white sox game you haven’t really had your ears bleed. He makes Sterling sound downright impartial.
I’m married to the enemy, so watch plenty of BoSox games on NESN. Not sure who the color commentator is that can’t pronounce his “Rs” but he’s annoying as hell to listen to. If watching Boston isn’t bad enough, HEARING it is even worse…

Victor Rojas and Mark Gubicza of the Angels are horrible, they are just as big of homers as Jerry Remy and Hawk Harrelson. For all of us in SoCal it is horrid to listen to them when they play the Yankees.

I can see why people find Hawk Harrelson real annoying…but to me it’s so insane that it’s funny. Does anyone else see it that way. Like I understand the dislike for him, but to me it’s so over the top…it’s just hilarious.
That being said I’ve only see him call a handful of games. So if I had to watch him every night I’d probably get real sick of it.

I think it’s safe to say that 95% of baseball announcers range from bad to embarrassingly awful.
Buck and McCarver are DEF the worst as a duo
But if it were by the individual, Susan Waldman would take this hands down. Sterling is pretty bad too, but nowhere near as bad as Waldman, Buck or McCarver
There is no doubt Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are the two biggest douches in broadcasting. I hate Buck and McCarver as much as the next guy, but listening to Miller and Morgan literally makes you dumber.
Quick example: Let’s say a foul ball hits a cotton-candy vendor in the second inning. These two clowns will talk about that for three innings straight, and mention it for every foul ball during every game for three weeks.
As much as I’m still freaked out by Sterling trying to get a peak of me in the shower after each game, I still have to vote for Jon Miller. He’s awful. Awful.
Hey, “charlie stiener,” sorry if my statement offended you. I’m willing to concede that maybe I haven’t listened to enough games on radio over the last few years to know how bad she is, but your post adds more fuel to the fire of my opinion that she’s disliked simply because she’s a woman. I have a couple of friends who simply refer to her as “that woman” in an utterly dismissive tone. So I really can’t help but think that’s a good part of the reason. Deny it all you want.
And she could never be as bad as Ken Harrelson.

I’m assuming more than half the voters have never listened to “Hawk” announce a game before. He is far and away the worst commentator in the history of all sports. Stupid southern accent, constantly whining about balls and strikes, endless minutes of dead air after the white sox are getting beat, and has almost zero interesting comments that add anything to the broadcast. The day he is fired and/or dies will be a great day for humanity
Daron Sutton is the worst announcer in MLB. No doubt about it. He constantly bad mouths many players that he simply doesn’t like. It is embarrassing. After all, Daron wasn’t good enough to play in the majors, even though he had the easiest of routes into MLB thanks to his dad. I mean, how much do you have to suck to never get a shot when your dad is a Hall of Famer?
As someone who lived in AZ and had to listen to Daron Sutton, I agree, he is far and beyond the worst. Everyone on the D’Backs are saints to him, while everyone else is an arrogant a-hole, ironic since he sounds like an arrogant a-hole himself. Honestly, there are not many good announcers on television. I live in Illinois now, and Bob Brenly and Len Kasper suck, Hawk Harrelson is the biggest homer I’ve ever heard, which is not a bad thing if you are a fan of the White Sox, but I am not, and Dan McLaughlin, Al Hrabosky, and Rick Horton (Cardinals) are terrible. Joe Simpson and Chip Carey (Braves) about as boring as can be. Michael Kay is a dumbass. Joe Morgan is pretty bad because he truly believes he knows everything. Joe Buck is a tool and Tim McCarver has never said anything worth listening to. Another terrible announcer not on the list is Eric Karros. Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow for the Giants and Vin Scully are by far the best in the sport. Gary Thorne is another good one.

Jerry Remy is the absolute worst speaker i have ever heard. I can’t even listen to the game…i mute the tv volume and listen to the radio broadcast of the game with the video. I was born and raised in NH and Mass and i cant understand a word this guy says. He sounds like he’s about to lose his breath at the end of each sentence/phrase. Not only does he not have a clue what engliah grammer is, he apparantly can’t speak and breathe at the same time. Not only does he speak like an ignorant wad, he looks like an ass as well. Dude shave your head or buy a toupe. His hair looks ridiculous! Dude you’re going bald…deal with it. This guy is the quintessential ignorant moron.
I am a Twins fan, so naturally I am predisposed to hating Hawk. Yet I do not! I agree with a previous poster that he is so over the top it is funny, even if he does cheerlead for the Sox.

Leave it to the old pro’s like Vin Scully. Most 21st Century callers all suck hind tit. An exception: Thom Brennaman used to be our D-Bax sportscaster in Arizona. He was freaking great here, and still a wonderful voice for the Cinci Reds alongside his dad, Mark, on radio. Now, those two guys know how to broadcast a game!
