All of the “core four” contributing BIG time!! Pettitte with the tough-hearted start and emotion. Mo with two saves (still no swinging strikes). Jeter, EL CAPITAIN!, singlehandedly willing a game one win.
Oh, Jorge, thanks for staying out of the way and letting Cervelli solidly guide his pitching staff. Your absence as significant as their presence.
May or may not be better offensively (Cervelli’s tearing the cover off the ball, especially wRISP) but I’ll take his D and game calling any day. I vote that Posada splits time between catcher and DH when he gets back.
Pettite and Rivera are reminiscent of the Beckett and Papelbon combination. Just that the Red Sox version is grittier and Papelbon is a better dancer than Rivera could ever hope to be, it’s those little intangibles that give Papelbon a slight edge over Rivera as THE dominant closer in the league.
Screw Strasberg, what does KC need a closer for ? Offer home town pimp Joba and Romine for Soria and my boy Aviles who would be an upgrade over Pena. Soria setting up MO would be murder.

Wow, I forgot that Mo locked down game 1. Is that wise, to use him twice within a few hours? Especially with the shortened warmup he got in game 2?
I mean, this isn’t Scott Proctor era Torre.
Mariano Rivera May 27, 2010 01:36
To save two gane in one day. Is special. I thank God.
Girardi May 27, 2010 01:38
He got 2 saves, I’d say it was wise………and Mo had plenty of warm up time, did you not notice the debris in Cervelli’s eye???

If we win 1 more it’s considered a winning streak.

Interesting that Lionel Richie posts here now.
Pettitte’s huge nose sniffing wine is very funny. Artistically done too.

Derek Jeter… I think when he gets a statue it should be of that play right there, ranging right, turning and jumping… Wow, what a captain.

So you’re arguing that the team is better with Cervelli than Posada?

That photoshop was not to scale, because Pettitte’s honker would require a glass with the circumference of a 55 gallon oil drum.
