The not all the way black hole

.699 -- That is Derek Jeter's current OPS.
After going 1-5 versus Tampa, Jeter's line has dropped to .266/.312/.387!! On May 11th, we outlined everything that Derek is doing wrong at the plate. Some of you will whine that we're pointing this out, but it doesn't take away from the fact that his season has been very poor so far.
We absolutely hope he returns to form, but right now, he's killing the Yanks.

Remember when people on here wanted me back instead of Nick Johnson? I do. Jeter played very well in April when the rest of the team struggled. I think we can cut the guy a break.
Oh by the way how did that Nick Johnson thing work out for ya?
Nick Johnson > Hideki Matsui
Randy Winn > Johnny Damon
Hey how are the five rings he has won thsi franchise? Assholes
this not thsi
What’s in the baaaaaaaahx!
What does Matsui or Damon have anything to do with Jeter sucking? Get a life.
Hey I am 2 for 2 tonight so far. Is the bashing now over?
Can I use my 10,000 times recycled “Dead Bats Society” reference?
I am the black hole!
Hey Nomaas. How’s my ass taste?
Hey NoMaas.
I thought you hated me?
I guess you love me when it suits you, huh?
Hey guys I’m ready to go! I’m just what the spark that this lineup needs!
I’m also grammatically incorrect!
@smallsamplesize
So 40 games is too small of a sample size but going 3/5 on one night isn’t?
What is wrong with you people? I love Jeter but geez, he’s having a slow start. He’s been bad overall. Doesn’t mean he’ll stay terrible nor do I see that suggested. What is wrong with you that you can’t even hear someone say Jeter’s having a slow start without screaming TEH RINGZ and then throwing a party because he had one good game (as if NoMaas had claimed he’s done)?
I love Jeter in a “he’s one of my favorite players” way. Sounds like some of you guys love him in a different way.
Kyle….WHAT? HA?
Will Girardi and the Yanks consider flip flopping Gardner and Jeter, as well as Tex and Cano? Seems to me Gardner batting in front of Jeter would help Derek take more pitches and work counts and Tex simply has to get moved out of the 3 hole. No MLB team should have their #3 hitter batting below .215 in mid May. Cano is the best hitter for the Yanks right now should move into the #3 hole.
@Mick Shrimpton
I never mentioned anything about the 3/5.
Project much?
If Derek Jeter is a .700 OPS hitter, then Frankie Cervelli is a .900 OPS hitter. C’mon guys.
And while we’re evaluating performance on tiny sample sizes, the quality of analysis on this site has dropped noticeably since the new staff were brought in.
