Hero one night, goat the next.
Ah, baseball.
Marcus Thames May 19, 2010 01:24

Mike Francesa May 19, 2010 01:28
If that was the Red Sox, they make that play. They make that play cause theyre the Red Sox. They make those kind of plays, they make that play, cause its the Red Sox, they make plays like that, they make that play.
Peter Gammons May 19, 2010 01:32
You guys are being harsh on Thames, he just needs a little dirt on his uniform and his talent will shine. He needs to be in Boston to get dirt on his uniform though…
Chris Russo May 19, 2010 01:32
He kilt ‘em out dare tonight. Mike, you still want Nate McLouth?
The Mink Man May 19, 2010 01:36
Yankees lose after a crucial ninth inning error by yesterday’s hero Marcus Thames.
Phieleblunt May 19, 2010 01:37
Hmmm let me see, lets blame one bad play vs. the meatballs Joab was throwing. At least Thames came up big the night before.
nyc.barstoolsports.com May 19, 2010 01:39
Joba is the one to be blamed. he sucks!
Pop Fisher May 19, 2010 01:40
And you’re the worst God damn fielder I ever saw.
bartonbickle May 19, 2010 01:43
Guy looks like Glenallen Hill out there
bartonbickle May 19, 2010 01:44
Check that, he makes Glenallen Hill look like Willie Mays.
Omar Minaya May 19, 2010 01:48
What they Yankees need is a good Latin American player out in right field.
Jerry Manuel May 19, 2010 01:49
Tonights loss is like Chinese food.
Ozzy Guillen May 19, 2010 01:52
THat Marcus Thames is a piece of shit. Why the fuck do the Yankees guy play a who can’t field his position. Such a useless black, that guy only get 1 meaningful hit in his life and he drop ball like that. He sucks big time you know.
John Sterling May 19, 2010 02:03
Well Suzyn, you just can’t predict baseball.
Russ May 19, 2010 03:02
I am tired of seeing Thames and Winn playing everyday. I say drop those fuckers and bring up some of the AAA guys to give them some majors work. They can flail at pitches, play shitty in the field, and give you the occasional big hit. Man can’t wait for Swish and Granderson to be back.
Marcus Thames May 19, 2010 07:10
I be openin my mouth wide a lot and shit. Yall notice me be openin my mouth a lot? Shit I drop that motherfucker.
Jim Leyritz's Cellmate May 19, 2010 07:20
Mo should get to punch him and the home plate ump in the throat after that game. 5 outs to get through the top of the ninth…
Mike Lupica May 19, 2010 08:27
And that’s why baseball is baseball. Because its baseball. Just like life. And maybe… sometimes… baseball makes life a little more like baseball. Because that’s life.
Joeyjoejoe May 19, 2010 08:27
Mo had strike three… that’s a BS strike zone from that ump all night.
Melky Cabrera May 19, 2010 08:48
If ju no tray me, i may tha cacch for ju. I no hi de ball so goo lie de blaa gie, but i stilll may de cacch.
Zero May 19, 2010 09:15
I dont understand how Randy Winn is on a MLB roster, must less a Yankees roster. Bernie-look-a-like needs to be DFAed about a week ago.
27rings May 19, 2010 09:18
Girardi should not have bunted Cervelli. Why give up an out. especially with Thames coming up against a righty? Did you really expect him to come through twice? Especially since Cervelli was the best hitter coming up. Waste of an out. All they needed was one single in three AB’s against a strugling pitcher. Joe let him off the hook but giving him a freebe. At least Cervelli would have grounded one to the right side.
Jorge Posada May 19, 2010 10:10
I woulda gotten Cervelli in from 3rd.
Dickface May 19, 2010 10:10
This woulda been a great headline had the Yanks hung on last night. Too soon? http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/05/two_bodies_one.html
Joba May 19, 2010 11:01
really? a special olympics joke? I think the real story of last night is that I’m worthless. errors or no errors, i blew that game.
Omar Minaya May 19, 2010 11:08
I will trade you Johan Santana for him.
Terrance or Phillip May 19, 2010 11:24
Thames is a boner biting dick fuck fuckface
Arnold May 19, 2010 11:37
Reportedly he was in tears after the game. I feel bad for him.
Terrance or Phillip May 19, 2010 11:44
now I feel bad too.
wait. 900k a year he SHOULD be able to catch fly balls so I feel less bad
wait again – Thames’s mother, Veterine, has been paralyzed since an auto accident when Marcus was five years old. As a result, she has only been able to watch him play in person a handful of times. – ok, i forgive him…its just a game
YOUKS BAR OF SOAP May 19, 2010 11:57
Hate to pile on here but i played OF in HS and College and never seen any one look as over matched as Thames looks in OF, its not that hard to play out there he looks like a guy off the street playing in a company softball game. Also this Sunday Lupica sneak peak ; its nights like this when you just know its going to be a three team race and somehow some way Francona’s boys will find a spot in the playoffs, why because they always do.
Arnold May 19, 2010 11:59
“he looks like a guy off the street playing in a company softball game”
Probably the best description I’ve seen.
Ogre/CapitalOneViking May 19, 2010 12:02
Girardi had a rough night. Does Joba need to be in a 5-1 game? Can we wait till Logan or Robo make it 5-3…an extra day’s rest for Joba (and Mo if the pen underlings survive) with TB coming into town wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world.
Cervelli’s been on fire with RISP, let him swing.
Finally, where the hell was Mr. UZR, Randy Winn, playing in LF? Too shallow. Also…pinch hit for him.
Ogre/CapitalOneViking May 19, 2010 12:03
also, loud belch.
Arnold May 19, 2010 12:05
Girardi talked about Winn’s positioning. He said when lefties go the other way against Mo, they often get dinky bloop hits. And that’s true. The SABR crowd has been wanting the Yankees for years to push their OFs in when Mo is pitching. Now, they don’t. Make up your minds.
Suzyn Waldman May 19, 2010 12:43
ROGER CLEMENS IS IN THE BUILDING!!!
Lori Rubinson May 19, 2010 12:57
So, who’s your favorite Yankee?
Minnesota Viking May 19, 2010 14:33
Ogre good call on Robo or that Boone guy. They for sure get lit up on the regular, but at least they have the chance to get lit up before we got to Joba who gets lit up with near regularity.
Can we say just 86 this bullpen and start over…with Mo the exception of course.
Randy Winn May 19, 2010 14:39
Do you guys think I am playing too deep out there? Should I move in a step or two? Help me out here.
Tabata Daycare May 19, 2010 14:56
How about a picture of an out of breath Joba placing the ball on a batting tee?
Marcus Thames May 19, 2010 15:41
In my defense why was Robinson Cano so damn close to me. IF you know you cannot make the play then get the fuck outta my way nigga.
Jimbo May 19, 2010 19:04
Hey, I play on a company softball team with a bunch of really old guys, and every damn one of them would have made that catch.
John Sterling May 19, 2010 19:53
Hero turned goat… as I always say, about 23 times a game, You can’t predict baseball….
brian bruney May 20, 2010 02:01
