I asked my wife this question and she didn’t have an answer: If Jeter is still hitting (or not hitting as the case may be) like this at the all star break, do you move him down in the order? Postseason?
What always bothers me about Jeter is after a loss he makes that ‘aww shucks’ face and gives half assed answers. Its like hes saying ‘blame me if it makes you feel better..’
Jeter is in the hurt box. Hopefully his substandard play will lower the ridiculous contract we’ll give him at the end of the year.
This is all A-Rod’s fault. He needs to stop padding his stats w/ useless 9th inning HR’s and start helping the captain out.
I’ll take action with any one on this site that Jeter has 200 hits, 100 runs and a plus 300 AVG. at the end of the season.
Gotta think he’ll turn it up at some point. It’s still his walk year.
It is definitely fair to criticize him, especially the way he has played so far this year. But I also think that it is not time to panic yet. Now if he still looks like this a month from now, that’s a different story.

Holy shit, is this really almost a 50/50 split? Or are people voting “no” as a joke? People, relax! A few true critiques wont take away his clutch hits from the past, clutch flip throws from the past, or his clutch intangibles from the past! Lighten up, jackasses!

So he’s not off to good start and you guys being douchbags about it after everything he’s done we get the ol “If Derek Jeter slaughtered your entire family, would it be OK to critique him?” analogy. You’re the assholes that give us all a bad name.
It’s okay to critique him and he’s certainly sucking ass this year, but hey, where’s the pointed Texeira posts, ripping his piss poor season? Why isn’t Cashman getting fried like he deserves to be for yet again constructing a horrible bench, something he’s done probably every year but one that he’s been GM?
NoMaas has always — even when it was at its peak and not whatever state it is in now, with the new staff and empty message board — taken it farther with him while others get it much more lightly. Frankly, the over-compensation is just as lame as the morons who treat him like a sacred cow.
I say yes, just as long as it’s warranted. I just haven’t really had the opportunity to criticize Derek before. Feels weird.

This poll, however, is a result of the recent NoMaas story about Jeter (“..black hole”) and most comments taking them to task.

Derek would have intiutively known that killing your family was the right thing to do.
Derek jeter is NOT playing like a guy who is wrried about his next contract, which scaresthe hell out of me.
That said, if he slaughtered my family, I’m sure he would have good reason. Of course he would have went in swinging and not taken a pitch, but regardless… good reason
Well..as far as I’m concerned about Derek Jeter…you can criticize him, just only as much as you criticize other Yankees. At RAB it seems that you can NEVER criticize Javier Vazquez or Joba Chamberlain, and mention that something may be wrong with either of him. You guys criticize everyone equally…so I’m okay with you guys doing it. I just hate the “smart” fans that harp on Jeter for every reason known to man, but the one time you mention Joba looked like ass for the last three months of the season last year or that something with Vazquez you get labeled as a Francessa fan.
If by “critique” you mean assess and comment upon {with admiration or even more admiration) how he went about slaghtering them, then the answer is yes.
