Hughes puts Yankees over the top
Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:10 pm by Louis Winthorpe III
Can you say Cy Young? On Wednesday night versus the Orioles, the phenom Phil Hughes delivered another stellar outing, going 7 innings with 7 Ks, 1 BB, 6 H, and only 1 run allowed.
When asked after the game why he's been so dominant this season, the 23-year old responded, "When I turn the hat around, it's like a switch."

I am very clever.
RUN PREVENTION BITCHES!!
We have a plan and we are sticking to it. I’m very engaged with other clubs in the process. We are doing our due dillegence on a number of fronts. God help the rest of baseball. Engage the process.
Phil Hughes = All Star ????
A-Bomb?
I’m pleased, but this *was* the Orioles.
Oh so wins against the orioles dont count ?
the perfect game for halladay doesnt count cause it came against the lowly marlins?
so had phil lost this game would you be here saying ITS OK ITS ONLY THE LOWLY ORIOLES ?
He didn’t say it didn’t count. It’s pretty obvious to anyone paying any attention to baseball in any way at the moment that a dominant performance against the Orioles is less impressive being that they rank 27th in runs per game and they have the worst record in the legue
Hughes and Pettitte as our 3 and 5 starters, now that is run prevention bitches
From what I could see Hughes pitched like garbage.
Hughes has been dominant against every team this season minus the Boston start and the Mets start.
This is what a pitcher with his stuff should be expected to do vs. the orioles
& thankfully he did.
I am the clean up crew
Phil Hughes is slowly becoming the master.
I own you!
NoMaas is simply genius. No other way to describe it.
I am thinking about putting a kilo of blow in Hughes’ trunk so I can get back into the rotation and then NoMaas will pay attention to me again…
The Yankees can’t really win when they play bad teams.
Yankees lose: WTF THEY LOST TO THE ORIOLES THIS TEAM SUCKS SEASON OVER
Yankees win: Who cares, it’s just the Orioles.
if hughes was a woman with ink…i’d do him…
Safe!!
Good call Jim, another good call folks would be to purchase my latest country music cd.
1-1 bitches
I know the Yankees are good but imagine how much better they would be with me instead of this Nick Swisher. He plays way to hard and will get hurt. The Yankees have no lazy latino’s and it will cost them come post season. First me, then Bunting Bobby “rico suave” Abreu, who’s next? Is there no room for lazy latin waste on this team? so unfair.
One day when i was a child i woke up with a wall next to me, it violated me in so many ways. Ever since I’ve never seen a wall i don’t hate and will never go near one.
we traded austin jackson?
I told you guys your young pitchers like Phil Hughes won’t ever achieve anything. He’s fahkin terrible.
His recahd is a complete accident. Jon Lestah owns him and Papelbon is the est closah evah!
The other guy looks like a constipated Diamond Dallas Page
Appreciate the shoutout, guys.
Specially if you are Pete “Fat Toad” Abraham.
The only thing Hughes is missing is the Pettitte Stare.
On a serious note, do you think the Yanks could acquire Ty Wiggington. He could replace the human scab, Nick Johnson. Plays first has some pop and he “plays the game the right way.”
once this easy schedule is over things will be back to normal and the yanks will be mediocre again and likely back in 4th place. the o’s and indians are free wins so lets not excited over this. before this series we were awful against the mets, sox, rays and twins and the wins we got were lucky. and cano is the only hitter in the lineup having an allstar year, lets forget this past week.
Jim Joyce, you’re a disgrace. No, not because you got the call wrong but because you prolonged a game by doing so. Asshole.
When Lincoln Hawk would place his fingers over another guy’s thumb, is that an illegal move in arm-wrestling?
Who cares it’s 2010, who arm wrestles anymore?
apparently, you’ve never seen Over the Top.
Ive got your wife Undertaker!!
Jim Joyce has that annoying ‘streeeeeek’ call when he is behind home plate
naw never seen it
and i have to disagree, love the ssssssstttrrriiiiikkkkke call. I’ll take that all day long over the other guy who stands there for 20mins then makes an arm movement to indicate strike.
I’m actually have been talking over with my agent a new strike 3 call. If someone goes down looking i’ve wrote a country song for it, it will be blasted over the PA system, I will then walk out in front of home plate and do the electric slide while saying striiiiiiike 3. Look for my next show at a ballpark near you.
Is that Nick Johnson in the Toyota hat?
Nick Johnson? That guy gets hurt a lot.
he’s on the DL with a Nick in his Johnson.
