With Sergio Mitre making his first start off the disabled list on Saturday, the Yankees decided to option reliever Jonathan Albaladejo to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

After hearing the news, the 27-year-old was visibly disappointed as he cleaned out his locker and packed his belongings before Saturday's game.

The Yanks should deal Mitre away for Haran.

How much longer are the Giradi/Cashman duo going to mess with the minor leaguers? We have three peices of poo taking up roster spots, Park, Gaudin and Thames and we send back a hard throwing young arm to bring up another piece of poo. If the Yanks where manged right they would be 10 games up right now.

It’s not enough to have the best record in baseball, apparently.

They sent Pimps up Albaladejo down because he has options and Moseley/Gaudin do not.

  6. The Scout says:

Girardi’s infatuation with Mitre, going back to their days together in Florida, is distressing. Cashman says Mitre would be a starter on half the teams in the majors. Yes, but those are the half that are at or below .500!

Don’t worry. Your boy Cash is about to unload the farm for Dan Haren. Dan Haren will solve all your pitching woes.

Dan Haren will like pitching for the New York Yankees.

I love the options argument. Who cares if Moseley or Gaudin don’t have options? What team is going to pick them up if they’re DFA’d? And who cares if they are picked up.

Albaladejo’s newly found fatness has made him a better pitcher, Kenny

  12. Alvaro Fernandez Ravelo says:

Albaladejo is a single inning pitcher. How many of those are there in the Yankee bullpen? Average of innings per game bullpen in actual active roster:
    D-Rob 0.97
    Mo 0.99
    Joba 0.99
    Logan 1.12
    Park 1.28

    The outliers:
    Gaudin 1.93
    Moseley 2.55

Come to think of it, I’d rather have Albaladejo than Chan Ho “Out of the” Park.

    @ Tampa Yankee

Gaudin, aside from getting tattooed on June 8th, his recent performance has been fine. I am no fan of Park, but he pitches in a mop up role and has allowed 2 earned runs in the past month. Thames has an .832 OPS vs. lefties and .835 vs. righties. How exactly is that a disappointment? Not everyone is an all-star…

  20. Henry Ford says:

Aah, the joys of union labor.

Can’t send the guy who stinks down to the minors… Have to send the new guy down, “’cause he has options”.

Teams should be able to option anybody they wish and who needs to work out some issues down to the minors as long as they’re still on the 40-man roster. But I’m sure if the owners proposed such a thing in collective bargaining, there’d be a lock-out.
