In their first home game since the deaths of Sheppard and Steinbrenner, the Yankees walked off with a 5-4 victory on a bottom-of-the-ninth single by Nick Swisher to cap a comeback against the Rays, a team that Steinbrenner loved to beat.
“He’d bring everybody over to spring games,” Jeter said, of Steinbrener’s longstanding policy of playing star players against the Rays, even during spring training. “He never wanted to be embarrassed and in his mind it was an embarrassment to lose in his hometown. So we’re well aware that we’re supposed to play well against Tampa.”

That was an excellent night of baseball.
Sometimes when guys hit fly balls far…they turn into homeruns. By hitting the ball over the right field wall in fair territory he hit a home run earlier in the game.
