Big League Players of the Month, v3
Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 3:44 pm by Marshall Seymour
In similar fashion to Gary Wallace's Minor League Players of the Week, NoMaas' Marshall Seymour authors our Big League Players of the Month feature. At the conclusion of each month, we select two Yankees (position player & pitcher) who carried the Bombers over the last 30 or 31 days.
Big League Players of the Month (July):
Pitcher:
CC Sabathia, 2.30 ERA/2.67 FIP/3.94 xFIP, 43 IP
Living up to the title of ace, Sabathia takes the honors for the second month in a row. Much of his success has been due to his ability to limit the long ball. After now allowing a HR in June over four starts, CC kept the ball in the park for the entire month of July (6 starts). This is thanks in large part to a solid groundball rate (49.6% in July, 51.3% on the season). With the injury to Pettitte and the innings limit on Phil Hughes, it's good to know CC is doing his part to anchor the rotation.
Position Player:
Mark Teixeira, .344/.462/.698, .488 wOBA, 119 PA
Tex has arrived. It shouldn't really have come as a surprise to anyone given his walk-to-strikeout rate and BABIP, but it's nice to finally see the positive end-result. Teixeira absolutely turned it on in July posting an OPS of 1.160, an IsoP (extra base power) of .354, and a 1.67 BB/K rate. Throughout his career, Tex typically gets better with each month, and while no one should expect him to top his ridiculous July, there is every reason to believe that he can keep up his buttocks-kicking ways.

Where are the dumbshits that wanted him moved down to fifth in the order in favor of Cano? See what happens when you are not patient, unlike Tex who leads the league in base on balls.
Heh…..
You said balls.
I see this segment lasting about 3 weeks…
For $15, you can hear me give a lengthy speech about Range Runs. Then, you can stroke my charred penis while we look at Win Probability Added tables.
meh…nothing new.
Sometimes if you get more hits and walks, you reach base more often and also score more runs. The goal of the game is to score more runs than the other team.
You know… There’s no reason you can’t shake up the lineup and move a player who’s slumping until they snap out of it.
No reason except that Baseball is has a strong tradition of doing stupid shit because “that’s the way it’s done”, and people get butt-hurt if they perceive their role as having changed.
“Where are the dumbshits that wanted him moved down to fifth in the order”
they’ve moved on to other players like Jeter, some people need to bitch and moan all the time. Then when jeter heat up and is batting .290 and back close to his normal stats they’ll find someone else.
dave what about me? do you lecture on me and my total retardation?
If so let me know and i’ll bring my good buddy zone rating for more laughs.
I’ll try and grab WAR to but he’s a dick and i doubt he’ll come. If he can’t come I’ll have zone rating bring his down syndrome cousin UZR, dudes hilarious.
I have no problem with a player being moved up or down in the order. A-Rod was moved was a 3 hitter before he came to NY and he had quite a track record at that spot. None of you bi**hes are complaining about that. Where was Swisher batting last year? Where was he batting on opening day? Where is he batting now?
Ok so I am not going to be untruthful with you, I just need a backlink. Thanks for understanding!
Thank you for sharing that data with us. There is some great stuff there.
You made certain nice points there. I did a search on the issue and found nearly all persons will consent with your blog.
