Pinot grigio and crackers with Pythagoras
Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 11:35 am by Pythgoras of Samos

Greetings, nobles. According to my theory, examining a team's run differential can provide a more accurate understanding of its true strength, as opposed to simply looking at its winning percentage. Over the course of a season, a team's actual record should gravitate towards a record more reflective of its run differential.

Yikes Baltimore.
This feature always feels a little gay…
i dont get it. so is he right or is he wrong?
Curtis, don’t question Pythagoras.
I never get it either. It doesn’t show any sort of adjusted standings as to what their records “should be” and is basically a reproduction of the exact same thing that you can find on ESPN.com or any other site.
Morons. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Pythagorean_Theorem_of_Baseball
@Jonathan Taylor Thomas: I think everyone understands the concept, they’re just wondering: using the theorem where the f*ck the “expected W-L” is…
But I agree w/the sentiment.
The haters who post here are becoming incredibly annoying. If you hate nomaas so much, stop coming here.
Yes, I am a moron because I clearly see that the “expected W-L” isn’t here and am wondering where it is/what the point is of pointing out the theorem without showing what it states.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people. However, in this case, I would have to agree and give this assignment and “Incomplete.” Please resubmit this with some sort of expected W-L record to reflect what the great Pythagoras believes the records to be.
an* “Incomplete.” It’s inexcusable for a professor to make such a typographical error. I beg all of your pardons.
@Oracle: who’s hating on this post? I don’t get it…
Baltimore is amazingly bad. Look at that run differential. Holy crap.
Eff it, we got the Ravens.
You’re welcome

I was surpriiiised to find out that there are more multiple run innings when the lead off hitter hits a home run as opposed to drawing a walk.
AWESOME. Avon Barksdale’s postin’ on nomaas!
