No pictures of Arod making out with himself. No big trades. No big signings (at least ones that weren’t ordered by Randy Levine). Being tricked to think it’s 2003 again.
Waiting for the new season has been absolutely painful. Agree or disagree?

Sometimes, the best deals are the ones NOT made. The FA market was shit this year, so let’s be thankful and feel fortunate that we have a good farm system instead of Cliff Lee and 7 years.

With hindsight, I am happier and happier we didn’t get him. It will be fun to root for him and his wife to catch leprosy from the scum in philly, too.

Wow, I can see I’m not needed here.

boring > dumb
Alfredo Griffin March 28, 2011 14:30
Putting all your eggs in the Cliff Lee basket was dumb.
Brian March 28, 2011 14:42
I wouldn’t say boring
I mean with the Jeter saga, the Cliff Lee not signing, the Pettitte reitrement saga, the Levine intervention, etc; it was pretty eventful
DormantUlcer March 28, 2011 16:50
Agreed. Eventful, just not productive.
Steve Balboni's Bastard March 28, 2011 15:12
Not getting Lee or even retaining AP was brutal.
Swisher Sweet March 28, 2011 17:29
AP off the table, we should have seen this one coming. And it appears Cashmoney did by implementing plan B, which was don’t do anything stupid because we have more money than brains.
Doug March 28, 2011 15:32
Wouldn’t say boring but it probably one of the worst
-Resigning Jeter to a ridiculous contract
-Missing out on Cliff Lee
-Signing Soriano for 3 years and giving up a draft pick.
-Pettitte Retiring
-Not trading for Greinke
-Heading into spring training with a rotation of CC/AJ/Hughes/?/?
-Red Sox signing Crawford trading for A-Gon and having a superior team.
Overall this offseason sucked
Joe Pawlikowski March 28, 2011 15:33
Nunez should have been handed the job. Jeter is done.

It beats this off season:

Signed Mariano Rivera as an amateur free agent.
John March 28, 2011 19:44
Signed Mo and drafted Pettitte, Posada and Ricky Ledee. All Yankee legends.
Random Sports Guy March 28, 2011 22:58
Yeah, Mariano aside(needle in a haystack) look at the rest of the off season moves. Mariano was a blessing. Who knows? Maybe some kid we drafted in this off season will be too.
Peter Gammons March 28, 2011 18:09
City of champions.
Ronnie Belliard March 28, 2011 18:14
I’m gone.
Kevin S. March 28, 2011 18:22
It could be worse… we could be Angel fans.
Rich Mahogany March 28, 2011 19:41
The Soriano signing was stupid but at least we got a decent player out of it. Giving Jeter four years was dumb, but the team’s goal was apparently to avoid a PR nightmare and it seems to have achieved that. And there is no good replacement for Jeter available.
The Yankees had no good reason to shell out 7/$142M for Crawford when they have a good LF who makes $450,000. There was nothing they could do about A-Gon. Sometimes the Sox or the Yankees make big moves and the other team can’t play spoiler.
The Yankees couldn’t force Lee to take more money or Pettitte to defer retirement yet again.
I’d like to see some ideas on what they could have done differently. Greinke took a lot to acquire – the Brewers are now so thin that they had to take Betancourt in the deal AND start him. Plus Greinke is injured.
NoMaas, how about a comprehensive evaluation of the offseason. Let’s see some talk about the moves that don’t get as much play, like the Martin and Jones signings. And maybe some thoughts on what else Cashman should have done.

Rat spines.
John March 29, 2011 13:52
They’d rather bitch
