Yankees are a very bad baseball team right now. Besides Granderson, and for the most part Cano, the offensive regulars have been Padre like all season despite the homeruns.
The super bullpen has been…uhhh not super at all. Feliciano KOd and looks like Soriano is headed that direction too, Joba looks good but gets hit around pretty easily, and DROB has some great moments, but is a walk machine.
The rotation has been pretty good actually until recently. Nova and Garcia are gettin knocked around a bit now, CC has not been CC, and AJ got shelled tonight.
Only thing I am looking forward to right now is the debut of Jesus Montero. Please be soon!!!!!
This team can not play from behind, its that simple. When they have the lead they look a lot more comfortable at the plate, but once they get behind they are swinging at every single pitch. I am not sure what’s in their heads, but they were one of the better teams last year when it came to coming back to win. This team is just bad, plan and simple. To be honest it looks like the lose of Chavez really hurt this team, because him and Martin looked like they were going to be the biggest off season moves of the whole league, now Martin looks pedestrian and can barely handle the ball behind the plate. I am also really tired of seeing Garcia struggle on the mound, if you’re going to have a pitcher struggle bring up someone from the minors, if they are going to fail at least let them get experience.
I want a fucking explanation for why Jesus Montero isn’t being brought up. I’m pretty sure that someone, possibly someone very knowledgeable, suggested that the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The way that this lineup is going suggests that something has to change. It isn’t possible that having Montero in this lineup could make it any worse. (For the record, I’m well aware that even if nothing changes, things are likely to get better.. But seriously.)
Also, re: Swisher. The recent post on this site helped to lessen my rage regarding his early season performance… But that 9th inning at bat was fucking infuriating. Down by 1 run, facing Kyle Farnsworth, and he hits a slow roller to the right side. It was way too predictable.
Finally, what are our stats like versus relief pitchers this year? They have to be terrible. The last 3 innings tonight typified these last two weeks. Just awful at bats, minus Eduardo’s at bat to lead off the 7th.
I’m sorry but this Posada bullshit has cast a pall on the entire team. I thought the Red Sox using Manny’s bullshit as an excuse for dragging down the team, was just that bullshit. This was until I looked in the dugout Monday night. This team looks lifeless. I wonder how A-Rod feels knowing that the captain of this team endorsed the selfish actions of his teammate and shit on him whenever possible. Jeter wouldn’t defend A-rod at all during the constant booings, the steroid mess and other situations, but had no problem supporting Jason Giambi, Teflon Joe and now Posada.
The fact that this team did not get a single baserunner after Tampa took the lead is disturbing. Hey joe did you know that Andrew Jones had two homeruns off of Kyle Farnsworth? so if you pay attention to scouting reports so much why the fuck did you pull him? I honestly think if Posada is gone this may be the best thing for this team. BTW how much longer can tex & Alex stink up the joint.
Abreu wasn’t much of a loss. Damon & Matsui however.. although I shouldn’t speak too loudly someone may jump out of nowhere and rip me for criticizing the GM
Ah, numbers shnumbers. . Yankee Stadium’s Short right field porch would be found by Matsui and Damon more often than not, and that RF is not in Anaheim, Detroit, Oakland or Tampon Bay.

This team looks like it’s cooked. You knew it had to happen sooner or later.
It’ll get hot again, but in the long term, this team doesn’t have enough guns to continue the run.

You think the playoffs are out of the question?

I want to wake up in a few months, or maybe 2014, already. This is all a bad dream.

It’s simple. Montero is not ML-worthy as a catcher. Who wants a 21-yr old DH? Not I.
Call me Crazy May 18, 2011 14:29
.. but I think the first time we see Montero at Yankee Stadium is when he’s catching for the Seattle Mariners. Right after we trade him for Felix.
Paulie May 17, 2011 01:15
Can’t lose these games. Need to make a change. Time for Jesus. Or anyone please.

You can tell the Yankees are slumping when we can’t get a baserunner against Peralta and Farnsworth.

I went to bed up 5 – 1. I woke up to this and pouring rain. I really need a bullet to the head today.

The real sad part about it all is that I knew in my mind that I would be waking up to both.

Holy shit, readers of this site are really going to yearn for Matsui and Damon every year until they retire.
Offensive Weapon Hideki Matsui: .234/.290/.375
Offensive Weapon Johnny Damon: .248/.287/.436
You want these guys on the Yankees? Really?

I think the first step in a solution right now is to sign Brian Cashman to a 10-year extension. Oh, and give him a raise.

I also believe that in order for teams to grow revenue, they should take out as much debt as possible.
