As we remember and reflect on the events of ten years ago, we look back at one of the most amazing World Series ever played. Even though the Yankees ultimately lost, the team from the Bronx proudly represented the spirit of a city and a country. It never felt better to be a Yankee fan.

Game 7 – If Brosius throws to 2nd to start the double play in the 9th, the Yankees win. But he hesitates and goes to 1st.
Rivera September 11, 2011 01:10
He just held the ball mang. Didn’t throw to nobody.
Joeybagonuts September 11, 2011 02:16
If Rivera doesn’t throw the ball away…
Joe Torre September 11, 2011 02:17
Maybe I shouldn’t have brought the infield in.
A-Rod September 11, 2011 03:35
While we’re at it Joe, maybe you should have had us bunt on Schilling in 04.
Don Zimmer September 11, 2011 12:42
Joe Torre sucked without me. He was great at managing personalities but handled the bullpen and in game situations like an asshole! You never won under Torre after I left!
Arod September 11, 2011 18:13
“Managing personalities”
That’s some bullshit right there. Torre was a useless dipshit.

Unfortunately this is 100% true if you’re sitting on the field level.
Pete September 11, 2011 03:38
I had a guy tell wearing a Yankee jersey tell me to stop talking shit to Bautista last year.
Negrodamus September 11, 2011 14:51

Winning the division is so overrated.

Mandingo September 11, 2011 04:04
I fuck around on here a lot, with different names even. I just got back from the bar. I spoke with everyone about where were I was and where they were when it happened.
It was tough, and I even had my eyes get a little wet. I will never forget. I am proud of NY. I am proud of the Yankees. That run in the playoffs made me forget for a moment about all the the horrible things that happened to wonderful people.
The Yankees will always mean a little bit more to me because they gave me hope. I will always love NY. I will always love America. I will always love the Yankees.
Take care of one another. You will never get another chance.
Pete C. September 11, 2011 06:29
Wow, a serious post from Mandingo. That takes serious nads here big man, you got my respect.
My son, right now as I type this is a Marine Corps infantryman on patrol in southern Afghanistan (that’s no bullshit, so no fucking around) with his squad.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him and what got us into this position.
My greatest hope is that he comes home safe with his buddies, and somehow we (as a country)figure out how to solve some of the problems, that cause shit like this in the first place.
Oh yeah, if only Mo didn’t throw the ball into centerfield.
Mandingo September 11, 2011 11:00
I am proud to be in a world with your son and people like him. I know he’ll be safe. Thank you for raising your son, and thank your son for all of us.
Don’t worry, after today I will go back to my usual shenanigan postings. It’s too serious of a day to mess around or joke.
Rich Mahogany September 13, 2011 09:37
Best wishes to you and your son.
The Truth September 11, 2011 07:09
Some things are just not meant to be. After Soriano hit the home run I thought shit the fates are on our side. In all honesty I really can’t watch clips from 01 series as too much emotion comes back. The old stadium, real fans not corporate douche bags on cell phones, women who don’t pay attention to the game. People are right things did change after 9/11, we became more self absorbed than ever.
TOday let’s try to be a little nicer to each other, let’s try to not be petty assholes, sox fans, oh yeah let’s get a win is that OK Joe?
Brett Hart September 11, 2011 07:23
Lemme tell you what I think of America…it’s no Canada, eh?
Bill Compton September 11, 2011 07:32
I remember that two run shot, I still get goosebumps today when I watch it. A win would be nice today.
Eric Northman September 11, 2011 07:34
Shut up Bill, I’m over twice your age! Vampires can’t get goose bumps, fool. Sookie is mine!
Sookie Stackhouse September 11, 2011 07:37
A DP always perks ms up! A double play, silly! What kinda of DP did YOU think I was talking about?!? When Vampires come, what comes out?!? Someone, anyone? I must know!

Mo said it best. Those who gave their lives on this day ten years ago are the true heroes of this beautiful nation.

I’m a little bitch compared to Scott Brosius
Barack Obama September 11, 2011 14:58
Lets remember these weren’t Islamic attacks on us. They were just very bad extreme people. Not motivated by religion whatsoever.
Anonymous September 11, 2011 19:39
Terrorism from the Middle East is caused by a multitude of reasons. Poverty, repression, revenge, political change, religious justification, etc. Saying that we were attacked by Islam like you are trying to do is as ignorant as saying that their religious fundamentalism was not a factor.
Phieleblunt September 11, 2011 20:54
Still, you gotta admit, Islam is up there with Sox Nation and Scientology as the douscheist religon choices….just saying
Ruth Ruth September 11, 2011 22:21
But there were other f’ing unbelievable moments in the postseason that year. That was the year that the Yankees were down 0-2 in the ALDS v. Oakland, the game that was up to Mussina, the game with the Jeter shovel play. Monumental in any year. Zito was pitching at the height of his powers, and it was Posada that scored the only run. Some game.
And then we turned around and beat the 116-game winning Mariners. Who else was at Game 5 at the Stadium? Do you remember the sounds? You must. I am sure Lou remembers.
Ruth Ruth September 11, 2011 22:40
It is hard to imagine that more exciting baseball is possible. Here is to all of those boys, Brosius, Jeter, Paulie, the BamTino, Bernie, KNOBLAUCH, Posada, SORIANO, Pettitte (ALCS MVP), Moose, Clemens, EL DUQUE, Stanton, Ramiro Mendoza! Mo. And all the rest. A fine bunch of men.
Joe Torre September 11, 2011 22:44
Wait, when was this? I must have missed it … I think I was taking a nap
Luis Gonzalez September 12, 2011 00:16
I remember that cheapass faggoty little chip shot I hit.
