The following players cannot hit right-handed pitching:
Mr. Clutch — Season vs. RHP: .277/.329/.338, Sunday: 0-5, 5 LOB, 2 K
Mark Teixeira — Season vs. RHP: .224/.325/.453, Sunday: 0-4, 3 LOB, 1 K
The following player looks like he needs to visit some batting cages.
Alex Rodriguez — 0-8, 2 K, 1 BB in the first two games of the series.
The following pitcher has made the most appearances in the series:
Luis Ayala — With the Yankees down 3 runs entering the 9th, Girardi went to Ayala for the second time in as many games. Ayala promptly let up a run and extended the Tigers lead to four. Very dumb move by Joe. What’s he saving his best relievers for? Three runs is nothing in the playoffs. In fact, before the game he stated that all relievers would be available for three days of use in a row. This flies in the face of what he said.

Joe Girardi said in the postgame that he had Eric Chavez pinch hit for Brett Gardner because he “hoped that Chevez would knock one out.”
SLG:
Gardner: .369
Chavez: .356
wOBA:
Gardner: .330
Chavez: .294
So not only does he not know that Gardner is in fact a better hitter than Chavez, here is Jesus Montero’s triple slash line (SSS), who has yet to receive an at-bat this series: .328/.406/.590
Very true October 3, 2011 09:17
Good points. Was underwhelmed by the Chavy switch. Montero has been guarded though from RHP, though.
Very though October 3, 2011 09:45
Though.
Anthony October 3, 2011 10:47
Montero hit .216/.310/.568 with 4 HR in 37 AB against RHP.
Gardner hit .265/.345/.393 with 7 HR in 407 AB against RHP.
Jones hit .172/.303/.406 with 5 HR in 64 AB against RHP.
Chavez hit .255/.322/.365 with 2 HR in 137 AB against RHP.
It would be pretty difficult to convince me that Chavez was the best bet here. He had the worst ISO of the group against RHP and it prevented Girardi from using him to relieve Rodriguez later (which isn’t a terrible idea, considering his struggles).
Brandon October 2, 2011 20:14
This really shouldn’t surprise anyone. He left Mo in the bullpen in Game 3 of the ALCS last year down 2-0 with a rookie closer looming. The next night, he puts in Mitre.
Chip Caray October 2, 2011 20:18
Shit game by Girardi and shit game by the offense. Max fucking Scherzer.

Nomaas plays by its own rules. There are ongoing jokes, and ripping RAB is one of them.
All in good fun, and entertaining, but if it bothers you it’s best to read with a selective eye.

The anti-semitism aspect is tiresome, particularly when people here get on the Sox for their long history of instituional racism.
Atty Brenard Joshua Kaaback October 3, 2011 22:21
I agree ]. The goyims are intolerable. Let me type up a cease and desist.
Brian S. October 2, 2011 20:19
Also, why are the fans at the stadium booing A-Rod and not Jeter and Teixeira? Jeter and Teixeira had just awful games. At least A-Rod plays defense.
Brandon October 2, 2011 20:21
$31,000,000 to play like Brooks Robinson is not what the Yankees had in mind when they gave A-Rod that contract
Degenerate Fanbase October 2, 2011 20:25
Tex makes $25M to do what exactly?
Brandon October 2, 2011 20:27
Play like Keith Hernandez with power? Still better than what A-Rod has done this year.
Negrodamus October 2, 2011 20:50
Not by much. No OBP, no average (yeah, I know, but still…), and plenty of pop-ups. Tex is an automatic out if you throw him a changeup low and away this year.
Brandon October 2, 2011 21:00
My point was great defense, lotta power, not much else
Negrodamus October 3, 2011 01:05
Yeah, defense and pop is great. Just makes him not at all worth the money he’s being paid. The shift is fucking his BABIP, hence the shitty average and lack of doubles, etc. But he’s also less disciplined. Worst BB% since 2005 for him this year (also best K% ever, so there’s that). He doesn’t hit to all fields as a lefty and tries to pull everything. He had plenty of oppo doubles in 2009, this year those pitches are infield pop-ups and shift outs. Not fucking cool.
Brian S. October 3, 2011 01:41
I don’t think the shift is the reason his BABIP sucks. It’s all the weak fly balls and pop outs he hits (11.8% IFFB rate). In fact this year he had career lows in ground balls and line drives hit. I agree with you though, he needs to go the opposite way on all the pitches outside for him to be good again. Kind of like that double he hit in game one…

Dusty Baker's wristbands October 2, 2011 20:27
Why would you boo anyone in game 2 is the better question.
Stadium is filled with pathetic fans
Routine Ground Ball October 3, 2011 10:02
The boos are ridiculous. Its game 2 of the ALDS, and the guy has been hurt.
Get frustrated, but booing him probably isn’t going to help him snap out of the slump.
nomaas.org October 3, 2011 11:09
Because, if we had $200 million to burn, the Yankees would never lose a game.
Never.
Devil's Advocate October 2, 2011 20:39
I’m not saying it’s right, but I think it’s because Jeet and Tex combined to go 3-for-8 in Game 1. Plus, A-Rod is on a long homer-less streak dating back to the regular season, and, if I’m not mistaken, hasn’t homered since the 2009 playoffs.
I don’t agree with it, but that’s probably why.
Dusty Baker's wristbands October 2, 2011 21:26
Oh i see, you mean game 1 where we smashed the Tigers. Thats the game that gives people a reason to boo thats pathetic
Devil's Advocate October 2, 2011 23:08
As I said, I don’t agree with it but that’s the line of thinking with some Yankee fans.
Banjo Player October 2, 2011 22:13
Are you saying it’s ok to boo Tex and Jeter?
Dusty Baker's wristbands October 2, 2011 20:25
When did batting .277 vs righties mean you “can’t” hit them?
another pathetic reach by Nomass just to get on Jeter
Teixera and Arod are the ones to focus on, specifically Teix.
Routine throw to first October 2, 2011 20:41
And in the dirt in front of Teixeira! Austin Jackson is safe!
Routine Ground Ball October 3, 2011 10:03
Clever handle.
Charles Barkley October 2, 2011 23:03
A reach? Jeter’s OPS against righties is .667. That’s turrible.
.277! batting average! October 3, 2011 09:44
.277 with a CaNO walk rate and a non-existent ISO. And he gets the most opportunities to make weak GB outs.
Pop Out October 3, 2011 15:35
Me and Tex are buddies!
The Truth October 2, 2011 20:45
Thank you. Jeter’s fuck up led to two runs in that inning. Plus why the fuck is Posada taking away at bats from Montero. As usual the brain dead sheep of yankee fans boo A-rod & ignore Jeter’s shit game. Also Tex has done shit in the playoffs since comign here. Game 2 of the 09 ALDS saide.
Dusty Baker's wristbands October 2, 2011 21:29
why would anyone be gettign booed?
you sound like one of the pathetic fans that would do that
The Truth October 2, 2011 21:44
Uh dumb ass no one should be getting booed. But if the Lupica, Wallace Matthews reading idiots who call themselves Yankee fans directed their ire in the right direction, they would point their fingers at No. 2 instead of No. 13. Of course since they are conditioned to hate Alex, nothing he does satisfies them.
Exactly, dumbass! October 3, 2011 13:14
Only the guys who post on Nomass know anything about everything!
Boo Jeter!
Don’t boo Alex!
Boo your mother!
Don’t boo your dad!

Routine Ground Ball October 3, 2011 10:15
Haha, this is a game where Jorge hit a triple and a single. Go easy on his.
Also, wtf boos players on their own team? If 90% of the game is half mental, how does that better position our guys to perform the next day?
cotel October 2, 2011 20:58
Can’t believe cano hit a groundball on 0-2 with 2 on base and an opportunity to win the game. Unfucking believable
Big J October 3, 2011 01:01
He put together a pretty damn good at bat. Especially considering it was absolutely POURING. Tough loss, but the last person anyone needs to worry about is Robby.

Girardi's logic October 3, 2011 02:24
I replaced Ayala with Mo in gm 1, to protect a 9-3 lead.
In gm 2, I left Ayala in a close game ’cause I wanted to save my good relievers.
???

So you are satisfied with the performance of Derek Jeter?
Minka Kelly October 3, 2011 13:34
Not at all! Why do you think we broke up??
…wait, we’re talking about his performance in the bedroom, right?
Jorge Posada October 3, 2011 15:28
I had the highest WPA in game 2!
Doesn’t matter though. Posters only focus on the negative.
Mark Teixeira October 3, 2011 10:43
I am an awful hitter from the left side. Just awful. I need to start being accountable for my terrible play when it matters most. Especially since I make 23 million to essentially pull the ball to the second baseman, pop up, strike out, or pad my HR stats on fastballs in favorable counts. I need to wake up. Soon.
Tino Martinez October 3, 2011 14:51

This shit is exactly like 2006. Explode the first game against a shit tosser, shrivel up in the rest against power pitchers, and have a big name leftie shit the bed in Detroit in game 3, then the offense packs it in for game 4 behind a shit pitcher (Wright2Burnett).
Mandingo October 4, 2011 00:12
Looks like the Tigers have what it takes to hit lefties. Makes sense since they aren’t heavy lefty.
Dustin Pedroia October 4, 2011 00:09
You guys don’t have the clutch gene like me. No excuse me while I go practice the skin flute.
