“Our club is pretty set, except [we want to] shore up the back of the rotation,” Cashman said.
This follows comments he made on Friday:
Again, I expect it to be CC, A.J., Hughes, Nova, and the rest of it is going to come from that pack below, or it will come from an outside source that we have negotiated with or trade for.”
He’s joking, right? The Yankees have the resources and the need for a front of the rotation starter.

Winning in 2012>waiting until 2013 to do so. Besides Banuelos will be ready in 2013.
i am the inferno November 20, 2011 14:43
making a longterm mistake like aj at the same time limiting a roster spot to move having AJ and say someone else not worth it blocking a potential Cole hamels is just laughable, i rather lose 2012 and have a chance at a rotation with hamels and banuelos
besides it gives us a chance to see what we have in betances and banuelos this year, if they suck you have a lot of options in a deep FA in pitching…
Benjamin K@back November 20, 2011 15:16
Betances and Banuelos are still walking way too many batters and just got to AAA. They need a full year of seasoning in AAA. The Yankees need to let their pitching prospects develop until they are ready like the Rays do.
i am the inferno November 20, 2011 15:19
moron, thats what i mean, they should stay in AAA and we will see this season if they can be counted upon 2013, thats why you plug back of the rotation holes and go after 2012 -13 FA starters that are better, that way you dont block a spot for banuelos or betances and still have an opportunity to sign hamels or cain
Benjamin K@back November 20, 2011 15:56
In 2013 Teixeira, Jeter, A-Rod, and Granderson will all be worse due to their age. We have the opportunity to compete in 2012 and we should do so with a pitcher that can be effective for not only this year but in the future as well.
i am the inferno November 20, 2011 16:00
we didnt lose 2011 because of lack of pitching, a one year or short term back end contract wont be a downgrade
if teeix and granderson wont be good in 2013 then it doesnt matter what we do we are screwed long term and yet you want to add to screw up longterm by signing one og these mediocre pitchers
Benjamin K@back November 20, 2011 16:33
Mediocre in your opinion. There are a lot of pitchers out there that will be above average for the next several years.

I love my dead gay son.
Dash November 22, 2011 15:50
The only problem I would have with that is the way they handled the last vtrio of young starters. They gave up on Kennedy too early, made the wrong choices with Joba, and put wayyy too much value on Hughes. I’m scared to think about what will happen if Manny B starts slow or has a 0.1 WAR after his first season.
Taiwanese Man November 22, 2011 16:31
Kennedy was a douchebag, and the only reason he won so many games was praying in national reague west. Hughes got fucked by the Verducci effect this year, granted that is on the Yanks, but he is not overvarued, I wirr bet Taiwanese independence on a huge year for him next year. Joba they legit fucked up, but he was probably a mentar midget anyway, see the midge game for proof. Many other good pitchers wourdn’t have been that affected by fucking bugs.
RoboCop November 20, 2011 14:43
I’d rather ride it out with scrapheap guys than trade Swisher for Jair Jurrjens, that’s for fucking sure.
i am the inferno November 20, 2011 14:49
agree, i love braves pitching but how many times do we get a pitcher from atlanta only to flop, javy, jaret wright……yeah lets trade one of our consistent hitters for a flyball pitcher thats always hurt

Farnsworth, Denny Neagle…
Stump Merrill November 21, 2011 08:47
Inferno, I think you have a mental problem.

Well, what’s he gonna say? OH MY GOD GUYS, I AM SO DESPERATE FOR PITCHING, GO AHEAD AND DESTROY MY FARM SYSTEM IT DOESN’T MATTER I’LL TRADE ANYONE!!!!!!!!!1111111 BETANCES + MONTERO + BANUELOS FOR PROVEN PITCHER BRONSON ARROYO.
Of course he’s not gonna say shit.
Cliff Lee November 20, 2011 20:37
That sounds familiar!
Kenny Williams November 20, 2011 15:56
Trade for(someone like Danks). Slots in as 3 and has only 1 more year left. If he does great reign him, if not Hamels etc.

You guys can have Jason Vargas if you give me a catcher, an outfielder, or a third baseman not named Rodriguez. Two more years of team control, will probably only make $4 million next season, and good for 200+ innings. Think Andy Pettitte…
RoboCop November 21, 2011 16:49
You can fuck off.
Mike Francesa's Accent November 21, 2011 12:43
I gawt an idear… start Rivera every otha day fuh fou-ah (4) innings and go with da fou-ah-man rotation. (Dead air. Audible breathing into microphone. More dead air.) Dat way I get a bird’s-eye view every game, since my tongue is firmly embedded in Mo’s asscrack. Between pitches I can use my ticklah.
Here’s the Minkman.
Johnathan Papelbon November 21, 2011 14:15
I wish your tongue was buried in MY asscrack…

Cashman also said that Nick Swisher would be the 2009 Yankees’ starting first baseman.
Call me Crazy November 21, 2011 15:23
Why blow the bank on sub-par options this year when the staff he’s got gave him the best record in the AL, his division rivals are getting decidedly worse, and there’s so much better available at the deadline or next off-season?
Besides, do you honestly believe he’s not going to try to win the bid on Darvish if he posts? He wouldn’t exactly come out and say that in a press conference though. Why tip your hand?
Uncircumsized penis November 21, 2011 16:39
You said “tip.”
