I’m very sad for Cervelli. Hope he finds a starting job somewhere. A lot of crappy NL teams could use him.

I thought I was a moron, but you, my friend, are truly a moron. “Hope he finds a starting job somewhere.” Besides Triple-A?

I randomly selected 4 “crappy NL teams” for you and provided their starting Catcher:

Pirates: Rod Barajas
Reds: Ryan Hanigan
Nationals: Wilson Ramos
Rockies: Ramon Hernandez

No one could use Frankie as a starter.

“Cervelli’s demotion came after the Yankees acquired catcher Chris Stewart from San Francisco for pitcher George Kontos. General manager Brian Cashman said Stewart will be the backup”

How the fudge is Chris Stewart an improvement?

Actually, that makes him from Venezuela.

How do you “happen” to be born in Venezuela? Was his prego mother just walking down the street in Caracas and little Frankie just happened to fall down her leg?

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

Mistah Torre April 6, 2012 07:10Reply

Yes he’s from Venezuela but he is of Italian descent. That make him a fellow guinea. Not some greasy spicamanian motherfucker.
Tell that to fucking Saltanmacchia, his parents should have explained that to him, after they got off the boat from Sicily.
Don’t tell him or those assholes in southie that, because all good Italians know, if your from that island, you got touched by the tarbrush.
So that makes him an eggplant.

Merely a numbers game with Stewart. What I’m more cheesed over is the fact they gave up a guy who could be a solid reliever for some shit stain back up catcher who probably won’t be on the roster by June 1st.

This photo shop is magical.

Stewart is supposedly outstanding defensively, at least looking at Caught Stealing rates. Cervelli can’t throw for shit.

Curved Slightly April 5, 2012 13:26Reply

Fun fact: Stewart had 3 AB’s for the Yankees in 2008. However a 30 year old with only 237 total AB’s in his MLB career I’m not really pumped over. Granted Frankie isn’t the greatest hitter he can still get on base. Plus, IMO, I think he handles the pitchers well and calls a good game, but that’s just me.

After Posada getting pushed to DH (not even a backup C role), Montero getting traded for a prospect, and Cervelli losing a job to a last minute journeyman trade aquisition after being groomed by the farm system for years, I think it’s clear… Girardi is a catcher Nazi!

Pete C. April 6, 2012 07:13Reply

I don’t think Posada was a viable option behind the plate.

Can we finally admit Cashman sucks?

Melancon and Aceves on Boston.
Montero for Pineda.
Kontos for a backup catcher with minimal upside over Cervelli

Ok.

Betemit for Swisher
Bunch of crappy minor leaguers for Bobby Abreu
Soriano for Arod
AJax/Kennedy for Granderson

I would put Arod on there. We have definitely not gotten value for our dollar for him, and definitely will not as this contract plays out.

Yes, Mark Melancon and Alfredo Aceves are more detrimental than the benefits of Betemit for Swisher.

Fine if you wanna hate on Cashman. But your arguments are seriously lacking. Tampa Yankees making the moves when Daddy Steinbrenner was boss so bad signings/trades were not entirely Cash’s fault.

Also you mention “Kontos for a backup catcher with minimal upside over Cervelli” Guess what freakshow? Cervelli has himself minimal upside so what’s your point?

Montero for Pineda? Silly to bring that up now. You have to wait a few years first to see how that plays out.
