I almost feel bad. Almost. April 22, 2012 06:36Reply
The Sox lose to the Yanks on the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Yanks and then implode in the ’7th Inning That Wouldn’t End’ (TM) the day after Terry Francona comes back to Fenway for the festivities. Maybe it’s recompense for his unceremonious dismissal from Boston; ‘The Curse of the Bam-Tito’ (TM). I think I could take another 86 years between World Series titles for the Red Sox.
A Rod goes 0 for 5 with a walk. C’mon, man, you’re the highest paid player in baseball. Your team can’t win games unless you produce at the plate. Oh, wait…
You’re right, this is the team he just brought with him from Florida.
I gotta say, I missed most of the game yesterday because of work, but turning on the tv at top 7 and seeing NY 1 run down made the beer taste better.
Instead of placing the blame on Bobby V and Tito and Theo and whoever else, maybe the players should be held responsible. Especially considering they’re saying it’s “our team.”
I look at it somewhat like this… if the players showed such blatant disrespect to Francona, a man who lead them to 2 championships, always defended his players (see: Manny) and handled the media so players didn’t have to, and he couldn’t have control of the clubhouse how did ownership expect Bobby V to come in and change things?
Henry company did the right thing by making an example of someone, unfortunately they made an example of the wrong person. If they had traded Beckett or Lester or any of the other culprits it may have served as a wake up call for the other players. Instead, they fire Francona and the players weren’t held responsible for their actions and will just continue to do whatever they feel. All that shows is that ownership has the players backs no matter what and players can run free without any fear of consequences.
And not ONE of those players on the Sox came forward and accepted responsibility for their actions OR apologized for what they did. There’s no remorse or guilt. I think the only thing they’re sorry about is that it got made public.
Excellent points. Another point that needs to be mase is how the front office of this team has so many media outlets in its hip pockets. They can control the narrative of whatever happens in the organization. Case in point Manny Ramirez. “manny being Manny” was real funny and cute until the front office didn’t want to pay him. When Manny shoved down the travelling secretary it was hushed up, but when it came time to ship him out of town Peter Gammons and Co. were more than happy to dredge up the whole incident.
Francona cannot be praised for taking the bullet for his players and then ripped for losing control of the clubhouse. Bobby V is caught in the middle of this mess, but due to his arrogance & constant needling of the Yankees I could give a fuck about him. Now the narrative is Theo fucked us he was overrated and all the success of the team was Lucchino and Henry. Honestly I hope this team finishes 62-100. As a whole entity, team, players and media they are a disgusting lot.
Anyone see the post-game interview with Bobby V on the Red Sux site? He starts CRYING around a minute and a half into the vid! Another crybaby, just like Schilling and his period blood sock!
As much as I’d like to pile on Bobby V, I actually like him — he’s entertaining, to say the least. The problem is that he’s trying to play both sides, and it can’t work. You called out Youklis, that was good. So don’t blow it by apologizing, he NEEDED to be called out, as do the rest of them. Keep calling them out and re-build that place from the ground up if you have to, that’s why you are there. So watch what you say and mean it when you say it, case closed.
