Babe Ruth Montero July 11, 2012 23:03
I would be in AAA with virtually any other team in the majors. The weird thing is that a lot of Yankee fans still reside in my jockstrap.
Dellin Betances July 12, 2012 00:43
Hey bro! How do I get that kind of respect?
I am putting up shitty stats just like you.
rob balis July 12, 2012 02:42
latin prospects are always highly overrated
Padilla July 12, 2012 12:42
Latin players are better than whites, because white people can’t dance. But I am not racist for saying that.
rob balis July 12, 2012 21:22
actually they arent…white pitching is far superior to any other race…best player in baseball is white josh hamilton, best pitcher is white verlander…best pure hitter is white…votto

Why ERA and xFIP but not FIP?
Dellin Betances July 12, 2012 00:45
You can look it up you know. It’s not a secret recipe.
Derrrrrrrr July 12, 2012 12:20
And why no KK/9? Or walk rate? Or GB%? Or LOB%? Or Fly-Ball%? Or WHIP? Or BABIP? Or ERA+? Or Contact Rate on balls inside the strike zone?
Brian S. July 13, 2012 13:52
Numbers hurt my head.
Wallace Matthews July 12, 2012 00:35
The fact that the Yankees let go of AJ Burnett will ensure that they do not make the postseason. AJ has pitched to a 3.68 ERA and his black eye total this season is ZERO. We all knew he was due for a bounceback year, but thanks to the Yankee Organization’s eagerness to get rid of him, they ended up losing a valuable pitcher in the process. The fact that they let Bartolo Colon go also means they will not make the playoffs, as it took away the potential articles I had lined up about the Yankee’s weight-related issues and how they serve as a detriment to the team. Also, it means I can’t put pathetic fat jokes in my articles… I would make fun of CC but I’m afraid of black people.
Mike Lupica July 12, 2012 00:50

Wrong again nerd.
Still shopping in the kids section you little scamp?
Archbishop Don "Magic" Juan July 12, 2012 12:01
That’s actually a pretty good approximation of a Wally Matthews article: rip on a particular guy that’s struggling and insist the Yankees get rid of him, then complain when the Yankees get rid of him.
CHUUURCH
Joe Páwlikowski July 13, 2012 13:53
Can we steal this content over at RAB?
Nasty Nate July 13, 2012 22:47
Actually, if you recall correctly, he bunted a ball off of his eye so I’m pretty sure his black eye total is at least one.
Wallace Matthews July 14, 2012 13:10
That’s funny, do you actually think I research this stuff? I just sprout off whatever anti-Yankee nonsense comes to mind… it’s why ESPN Bost– I mean NEW YORK hired me.

Melky Cabrera July 12, 2012 11:58
Hi. You guys forgot about me.
DormantUlcer July 12, 2012 14:31
On one hand it’s so heart-breaking to see the Yankees 4th-outfielder-at-best hit .350 and put up 20-20 numbers, while the Nomaas WARrior continues to have setback after setback to keep him off the field.
On the other hand, my fantasy team is killing. Don’t change, Melk Man.
20/20 hindsight! July 13, 2012 09:01
And I’m sure when Melky was the worst player in baseball with the Braves, you were saying the same thing.
Jay Destro's Weenie July 13, 2012 13:53
Dormant Moron at it again.
DormantUlcer July 14, 2012 13:38
An awfully pointless comment. What does 2 seasons ago have to do with him leading the entire Majors in hits right now? I mean, besides an opportunity for your clever little name.
Jose Quintana July 12, 2012 16:21
Me too.
potatoes July 12, 2012 22:26
Actually, i did forget about you.
Melky Cabrera July 13, 2012 11:15
Hm, apparently it’s only guys who departed this past offseason, so I suppose you didn’t forget about me. “Recently” wasn’t exactly qualified.
I’ll provide my own update: currently getting drunk with other former ASG MVPs – JD Drew drinks like a pussy.
Fucker July 12, 2012 11:59
Just so I am clear, I have to wait before passing judgement on Michael Pineda, but Montero sucks based on half a season in a lineup with no protection?
Love the commenters on this site!
Protection July 12, 2012 12:03
I don’t exist.
The pitcher-friendly ballpark is a factor, though.
logic July 12, 2012 12:46
You are what your numbers say you are. If there’s no “protection” for him, why on earth is his OBP so low? No protection usually implies that pitchers are no pitching him strikes, does it not? How is he managing to create so many outs?
Doesn't Suck At All July 12, 2012 14:36
Just vastly overrated by a group of Yankee fans that can’t get over him. He is a pretty good prospect with plenty to prove, both offensively and defensively.
Smart Guy July 12, 2012 12:26
a Montero having to be counted on as one of the main run producers in a pitcher friendly park with a dreadful lineup is not the same as a montero who just needs to blend into an already good lineup full of veterans in a hitter park.
The Montero in seattle wouldnt be the same Montero in ny just as the AJ in pittsburg wouldnt be that good in Yankee stadium.
Smarter Guy July 12, 2012 13:52
He wouldn’t be in Yankee Stadium. He would be in the minors. The Yankees are a runaway first place team, with no need at all for a mediocre backup catcher or a right-handed DH.
Smart Guy July 12, 2012 15:42
you are a moron if you think montero would be in AAA with the yankees
The Law Firm of Wise, Nix and Eppley July 12, 2012 15:55
Wait, Montero can play all three OF positions, the middle infield positions and pitch relief now?
In-season circumstances (injuries, lackluster performance, days off, etc.) determine how the 25 man roster is constituted and deployed.
If Montero hit the .204/.244/.309 in 205 PA against RHP that he did with the Mariners, there’s a strong argument that the Yankees would have demoted him.
Smart Guy July 12, 2012 20:00
If montero isnt traded theres no Raul ibanez and no chris stewart. to speculate that he would be sent down due to performance is nonsense unless he totally tanked which I high doubt given what I stated before, he would be surrounded in a better team with a ballpark to hit in, as opposed to pitchers going around him to pitch to the rest of the crappy team he would probably be facing better pitching to hit.
His seattle numbers to me are as relevant as AJs numbers, deal with it
Smarter Guy July 12, 2012 16:25
He would be in AAA, moron.
We would have no need at all for him at DH, and he isn’t what we would look for in a BUC. We also won’t need him for either of those positions going forward, which is exactly why Cash was tripping over himself to trade him.
Fucker July 12, 2012 16:27
Yes Stewart has done mush better than Montero would have.
Smarter Guy July 12, 2012 16:42
Thank you for proving my point.
Stewie isn’t a better player, but he is better defensively, which is what they want at their BUC position. This is first grade level stuff.
Get over Montero. The Yankees are going to win the World Series, and I wouldn’t even be surprised if Montero is demoted by the mighty Mariners.
Smart Guy July 12, 2012 20:02
I was starting to doubt , then you went on to say the yankees are winning the WS, only a moron would say that since although their record this team is more probable to get swept in the ALDS than any recent yankee team
CC, Andy, Nova, Kuroda July 13, 2012 09:33
Why exactly are we getting swept in the ALDS?
Smart Guy July 13, 2012 09:54
cause our rotation doesnt get to hit until the World series
Smart Guy July 12, 2012 20:04
oh yeahand the stewart is a better defender, sure….. he was supposed to be but hes sucked in both sides
Ben Ka bak's Dad July 13, 2012 13:54

BEN KAABBACK JR, Esquire July 13, 2012 17:23
Dad, does blowing a gentile insult the Hebrew race?
Michael Pineda July 12, 2012 19:54
Sure, my WAR is obviously 0 this year, but its better than Montero & Noesi’s combined WAR of -0.1!
Buffalo Bill July 13, 2012 10:06
It would be amazing if Pineda misses the entire season and STILL outWAR’s both Montero and Noesi combined.
Joe Páwlikowski July 13, 2012 13:54
Bitches be crazy.
