I had a whole article planned relating the Yanks mistake of signing Asians who are prone to backdoor-related issues and how this bad habit of theirs will ultimately spell doom for the team come playoff time. Death by diarrhea! The fatality of flatulence! The pornographic pestilence! Expect another first-round playoff elimination… assuming they even make it there.
Ichiro was 1-4 today, but he hit the ball on the nose a few times and lined out right to somebody. There may be something to the increased line-out stat NoMaas brought up a couple days ago. If those fell in, or were missed by a dude in red who was busy taking a bite of a chicken wing, he’s 3-4.
He’s looked pretty good to me so far. Easily beat out a throw to first too (FC), with that speed. He can still run; don’t forget that he stole 40 bases just last year.
I know that overall, NoMaas bashed Ichiro more than they praised him, in their typical fashion– to cover their ass in case he plays bad. They also brought up a few positives, in case he plays well. Such is the “middle of the road mentality” case with everyone they analyze.
In the end though, I’m pretty psyched to have Ichiro in pinstripes and can’t wait to see how he does. I’ve loved watching this guy play, his whole career; he’s one of the best complete players we’ve seen in the last 15 years of so. I think this was a great trade; I only wish they had have brought this guy to the Bronx ten years ago!
at the absolute worst..he is the best 4th outfielder in baseball….and getting that for an ehh pitcher in mitchell who at absolute best will be a serviceable #5 starter and a guy claimed off waivers…..it was a smart move
