It’s looking like RUN BMG is done for the season, and all the parrots in unison are chirping “Shane Victorino”. We disagree with the parrots.
Let’s look at the facts once again.
1. The Yankees have a huge lead in the division.
2. The Yankees are going to the playoffs.
3. The Jones/Ibanez combo has been more than fine.
Why on earth do the Yankees need to make a trade for an outfielder?
If there is concern about Jones and/or Ibanez wearing out, then rest them. That’s what a big division lead allows a team to do — rest players. Dewayne Wise is already on the roster. Put a potted plant in left. It doesn’t matter.
And for those of you who have never had intercourse with a woman (a blow-up doll doesn’t count), here is what ZiPS projects for the rest of the season:
Andruw Jones: .351 wOBA
Raul Ibanez: .314 wOBA
Shane Victorino: .337 wOBA
While Victorino might be an upgrade over Raul, does it make any sense to give up a decent prospect for marginal improvement on the short side of a platoon? Absolutely not.

I wouldn’t mind if they traded for an outfielder that could be used as a stopgap RF option for next season. Someone like Will Venable (who hits really well away from Petco) would be ideal. This is all assuming Brett Gardner is out for the season.

If you dont look to upgrade the OF if given the chance you are putting your team at risk, one injury away from having a mediocre OF.
Now Im not suggesting to trade valuable pieces to get victorino but if he came on the cheap thats great and Id do it.
we were set on rotation and bullpen then injuries changed everything, to not explore the possibility of upgrading in every aspect is just ludicrous.
But really, thank god Nomaas isnt incharge, if they moved the LF wall back like they wanted because of the super reliable gardner. just imagine where we would be right now :D

We could very well have 100 wins. However, if Gardy won’t return it is a very thin situation – one injury away from something like Wise starting. They also could use somebody going forward, given Gardy’s fragility and the possibility that Swisher wont return. Therefore, if the right deal is available it could be the ideal time to spend prospects for a cost controlled outfielder, Span being ideal.

You pick up someone like Victorino not because he helps your playoff chances but because he shores up the outfield in case of another disastrous injury. If Granderson goes down, yes, we’ll still make the playoffs, but if we can get Victorino for virtually nothing, then we’re better with him than Wise becoming our starter.
But it all comes down to the price – no fucking prospects.

I’m glad Nomaas isnt running the ship, now with swisher injured I hope this forces them to sure up a trade for someone that could step in regardless if its short or long term.
Trade for OF help, Andruw and ibanez have been good but any role player plays good untl their workload gets bigger and they get exposed more.
Say no to nomaas ideas and yes to my ideas cause I am a smart guy.
