Now that we are at the halfway poitnt of the season, the staff of nomaas.org would like to take this opportuunity to thank Yankees President Randy Levine for spearheading the deal that has provided the Yankees crucial insurance in the wake of Mariano Rivera’s season-ending injury.

You have to truly be an idiot if:
1. You think Randy Levine knows what he’s doing when it comes to evaluating baseball players.
2. Think Soriano’s deal was a good one.
Nick Social July 4, 2012 22:15
He didn’t say either of those things.
Big Spike July 5, 2012 10:48
He knows what he knows, don’t waste his time with the facts.

Lumps.
Call me Crazy July 5, 2012 13:18
Fernando Rodney – 1yr, $2m 24 saves +1.5 WAR
Jim Johnson – 1yr, $2.6m 25 saves +2.3 WAR
Alfredo Aceves – 1yr, $1.2m 19 saves +0 WAR (mostly due to a couple bad innings at the beginning of the season), Was and wanted to be a Yankee
Total: $5.8m, +3.8 WAR
Rafael Soriano – $11m this year alone, +1.5 WAR
Which would you rather have had, all of the closers from every other AL east team and $4m in cash, or Soriano?
Brian S. July 4, 2012 20:27
We may have had a nine game losing streak at the Trop, but three of those losses were glorious.
Brian S. July 4, 2012 20:39
We not stinky
Thomas Jefferson July 4, 2012 20:40
I had no idea THESE people would be allowed to be Americans.
The Oakland A's July 4, 2012 20:45
We beat Boston…again.
You’re welcome.
Rafael Soriano July 4, 2012 21:42
I would like to thank the writers of NoMaas for naming me the first half MVP of the Yankees season. I would like to thank Randy Levine for making me a Yankee. My contract does in fact suck but whose doesn’t on this team?
More importantly I would like to tell Mr. Cashman to go fuck himself.
Big Spike July 5, 2012 06:35
Just untuck your shirt baby.
Benny Blanco from Da Bronx July 8, 2012 03:49
YES THIS!!!!
Fecal matter July 5, 2012 09:49
@ Rafael Soriano
It will suck when your $14 million prevents the Yankees from making a run at players like Cole Hamels because the Steinbrenners want to stay under $189 million.

L’Chaim Hank and Hal!

We all know the Yankees always stick to their guns when it comes to money…
The Truth July 4, 2012 21:44
Brian S said it best, three of those losses sent the model franchise into a tailspin they have yet to recover from. As for this season, fuck you Tampa no one in Florida gives a shit.
Big Spike July 5, 2012 06:41
Florida fucking blows, the land of rednecks, golden agers, and terminal ignorance.
Why anyone wants to go to that flat, vermin infested swamp? Just because the temp doesn’t go below 60 in February? That doesn’t make it a destination, it makes it a third world country.
Sycophant July 6, 2012 23:34
I’ll agree with that. I moved here 3 years ago and can’t wait to get back to the Northeast. Tropicana Field has the appeal of a hospice / flea market. The white trash down here are just batshit crazy.
Routine Groundball July 5, 2012 09:14
Brian S said it best when he said: “we not stinky”
Brian S. July 9, 2012 15:45

Eric Ortiz July 5, 2012 11:43
In their last series against the Oakland Pathetics, I mean Athletics, the Boston Red Sox once again displayed why they are the best team in baseball, and gave massholes across the globe a reason to smile. Being the generous organization they are, in an astounding act of humanitarianism, they allowed the lowly A’s to sweep them. Of course, this is of no consequence to Red Sox Nation as their incredible team already clinched the division in March. The 2012 Sox are projected to be the second best baseball team in history, behind the 2011 Sox, and will come out of their 4 game set with the Yankees with a 4-0 sweep, outscoring their opponents 420-3. David Ortiz will bat .690 for the rest of the season with 9902 RBIs, 87 homeruns and 56 stolen bases. Josh Beckett will pitch to an 0.01 ERA and perfect the art of PWI… pitching while intoxicated.
Brett Gardner July 4, 2012 21:47
I would like to thank the writers of NoMaas for constantly overrating my abilities. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the fact that they are still selling that Gawd-awful stupid RUN-BMG shirt. 2012 exposed my uselessness.
I’m a total faggot who has a mysterious injury aka no heart.
Maybe if they revamped that shirt & sold it as toilet paper people would buy it.
DeWayne Wise July 4, 2012 21:54
You silly cracka.
Nick Social July 4, 2012 22:17

Halfway Point Report Card
Jesus Montero -0.2 WAR
Hector Noesi -1.1 WAR
vs.
Michael Pineda 0.0 WAR
Jose Campos 0.0 WAR
I win again, bitches.
Big Spike July 5, 2012 06:44
You call the fact that the guys Seatle got suck worse than the guys’ you wound up with a win?
Go buy a dictionary. Douche.
The Truth July 5, 2012 07:51
Shh you cannot condemn anything the all mighty cashmoney does. He is all knowing, all seeing. I mean ignore the fact that Montero is actually playing as opposed to Pinata who is sitting on his ass unsure if he will ever be the same mediocre pitcher he was for most of the season.
Good Humor July 5, 2012 09:53
Go buy yourself an ice cream bar.
Big Spike July 5, 2012 11:02
I didn’t get it right.
Let me try it this way; I don’t necessarily think the trade for Pinata was a good one, or bad but the only good, is long term now.
What I meant was don’t judge the trade by saying the guy you traded with did worse than you. Basically a shitty trade is a shitty trade, and if the best anyone can say about it is “they” did worse than “us.” Not we got some great players for some good players, it’s a shitty trade.
Joeybagonuts July 5, 2012 13:11
Uh… if a player is contributing negative WAR value to the team, you would be better off not having them taking up a roster spot and. That is the gist of the original message.
Big Spike July 6, 2012 06:17
I understand that. And that was Half the message. If that was the complete message, we wouldn’t have heard about Campos and Pineda.
Like I said before, when making a comparison, saying we did better because the players we traded suck right now, and the ones we picked up haven’t done anything, isn’t the definition of success.
Seriously though I appreciate the grown-up response. If my point wasn’t made then, I guess it’s time to give up.
Don’t judge the trade till everybody plays.
Benny Blanco from Da Bronx July 8, 2012 03:51

Payrolls. I won’t write about the A’s vs Sox payroll however.
The Truth July 5, 2012 10:02
We know that would actually require you to do some reseach, instead of re-writing the same talking points you have been spewing for the last ten years. Oh how are he Wilpons doing? Since you seem to do nothing but hang out with Fred & Jeff in the Hamptons. Pussy.
Mike L. NYDnewwz July 5, 2012 11:24
I had a big article ready for the NY Rangers evil money ways if Parise signed with them. But small market Minnesota stole him away as well as my story.
Eric Ortiz July 5, 2012 11:55
Every baseball expert on ESPN is predicting an overwhelming Sox victory during the upcoming weekend series versus the $200+ payroll championship-buying despised-across-the-globe New York Yankees. After graciously surrendering a 3-game set to the irrelevant Athletics, our favorite small market heroes will thrash the villainous Evil Empire en route to their first playoff appearance since the year 2009 (during which the playoffs were canceled and thus no team won the World Series that year). Adrian Gonzalez will raise his average to .542 over the series and add 321 RBIs to his season total. John Lackey will lose 1 pound. I will spew out more verbal diarrhea, and get paid handsomely to do so. Stay tuned.
Chan Ho Park July 5, 2012 12:04
And I will spew out real dialea
Billy Martin July 5, 2012 10:48
I don’t know what all this craziness is about Soriano. I agree his contract wasnt the best for a setup guy..but he is now our closer and he has converted all but 1 of his SV Opps. Let’s stop examining the BABIP, FIB, WAR and DUI(especially DUI) etc.. Soriano is our closer and he’s pitching damn good!! Now let’s all untuck our shirts and have a celebratory drink or ten!! (most likely ten)
Big Spike July 5, 2012 11:06
Watch out for that strip clubs stucco wall, Billy.
Only man to ever die sliding into home.
Billy Martin July 5, 2012 10:52
Also if he has a great season…not only do we benefit from the great season, he might opt out of his deal anyways and get a longer term deal elsewhere and we are free of the 14 Million! So if he keeps pitching well sounds like a win win to me!!
Thomas Jefferson July 11, 2012 03:44
