We’ve written before about how umpires are awful and directly impact the outcome of games.
In a game where both Joe Girardi and Nick Swisher got in the face of Tony Randazzo, we thought we’d take a look at the umpire’s accuracy in calling balls & strikes for the night.
Conclusion: Laughable. The red dots are ‘called strikes.’ The squares are for Detroit pitchers. The triangles are for Yankee pitchers. Some of those are not even remotely close to the plate, yet Randazzo called them strikes. Where is the accountability?

In any other occupation in this country, you get fired for being this atrocious at your job.

Not true.

Fuck The Umps August 7, 2012 01:19
That’s not just human element (i.e., human error). You gotta remember… as wrong as it is, it is reality that umpires are subjective. With that said, they likely grew up baseball fans, and thus, wanted to become umpires. The problem is that anyone who is not a Yankee fan, spends more effort and energy hating the Yankees than rooting for their own team– hence why the Red Sux are such prolific losers; they have no substance and no actual fan base. The black and white? By statistics and all probability, nearly every umpire hates the Yankees, and because they do, the Yankees get fucked over on pitch calls; check swings; close plays, etc. It fucking sucks, but this is the full reason.

yeah Ive always thought this too, like I dont think they sit there like Im gonna screw the Yankees but on any “close” call, I mean any on Yankee fan hates and despises the Yankees. Nobody is indifferent.

meant to say any non yankee fan
Negrodamus August 7, 2012 15:40
Randazzo came at least 3 times during the game. He may as well have just put on a Tigers hat and waved the fucking pom-poms.

You wanna play rough?! Ok! Say hello to my bullshit strike zone!
Ivan Nova August 7, 2012 03:09
This is why I need to be DFA. I kept throwing meatballs instead of pitches off the plate.
Yankees fan in the stands August 7, 2012 07:55
Sitting in the RF stands lastnight, I was quite sure most of those pitches looked low and off the corner. A couple that was 700 lbs. combined sat in front with their Tiger Paws told me I was wrong and JV was the best and that ARod uses steroids. What a trashy group of fans, they’re beat down with filth and dispair. Although the strikezone was bad, that’s no excuse for Nova’s line. Can we stop pretending he’s a formiable pitcher now, and stick his ass back in AAA?
David Phelps August 7, 2012 08:49
Skip! We are up by 12 in the sixth, can I get in the game?
No, you are our down by 5 in the fifth guy.
But Nova sucks, and I am good.
That’s it, you are now the down by 7 in the third guy. Can someone get me a veteran so i can use my binder to know when to put them in?
Jim Leyritz's Cellmate August 7, 2012 08:30
The strike zone was bad, but can we please focus on the obvious: this is yet another absolutely inexcusable start by Nova.

He stinky

A widened strike zone is small comfort for an otherwise abscess of a city on the backside of this great country.

Yes please, shit again ;)
Bee Ess August 7, 2012 11:22
Look at all the green triangles INSIDE the strike zone. Not only was JV getting call out of the zone, but Yankee pitchers weren’t getting calls IN the zone.
Dead Horse August 7, 2012 12:37
Aren’t your arms tired from beating me so much? What do you expect to accomplish? Every ounce of energy going into this page was wasted.
Rafalca Romney August 7, 2012 15:21

Wait a mintue… Romney owns freaking dancing horses and he’s supposed to represent the hard-working, blue collar American?
How many American jobs do you have to sell off to China to be able to afford a fucking dancing horse?

Romney us a man of the people. The white people.

THAT’S GARBAGE!
DormantUlcer August 8, 2012 04:45
I also see more green triangles in the strikezone than green squares. But that’s probably reading too much into it…
TheGhostofAJ August 9, 2012 03:58
The reality is, is that the strike zone was wide outside to lefties all night. The difference was, that Verlander expoilted and expanded it because he’s a fucking good pitcher. He saw where the zone was being called and went after it. Thaw what a good pitcher does.
I hate umps at times too, but stop the sniveling whining act you stupid cunts and wake the fuck up.
