+ 14 straight extra-inning wins
+ 14-2 in extra-inning games
+ 27-8 in one-run games
Truly amazing.
This has to be a historic “run of luck”, for lack of a better phrase. If anyone can find any all-time winning records in extra-inning and/or one-run games, feel free to post them in the comments.

Or it could be that this exposes flaws in stats, the same stats that said they were just playing lucky and that they would fall back down to earth, the same stats that apparently said the yankees were going to start hitting better with RISP, that Jeter was done and that Ubaldo jimenez was a true ace.
Maybe theres just something more than stats
Straw Man! September 19, 2012 10:13
Or the stats that said you were heterosexual. Those were wrong too.
Stupid fucking moron September 19, 2012 11:38
“Maybe theres just something more than stats”
YOU MEAN LIKE MAGIC?!
Harry Potter September 19, 2012 11:50
BINGO!
Bitches love my wand.
Smart Guy September 19, 2012 12:38
No, the term magic is overrated, its like saying the yankees were really influenced by ghost. maybe you believe in God but thats just silly.
You get the right players to believe in themselves and play hard and they can overcompensate their limitations.
But theres such a thing as actually watching these guys perform and theres no stat that statfags can point out to convince me that this Old yankee team will come out and hit with RISP when it counts when its evident that they arent good at it.
But go ahead believing in stats and blind yourselves from other factors, Id bet youd be happy with your Ace ubaldo jimenez who stats said he was an ace even though I.. the smart one said other wise.
Dont cry cause the truth hurts :D

vete a la mierda pendejo!
youre not smart youre dumb as shit September 19, 2012 15:27
more like the exception that proves the rule dumbass
If something is right 97 percent of the time, Im gonna believe that the times its wrong are flukes, not that the times its wrong proves the stat is bullshiit.
If thats the case I doubt you would ever get any type of medical treatment, I mean Chemo and Radiation work at a MUCH LOWER rate than baseball stats do, yet i dont hear anyone saying that theyre “bullshit”
So please sit down, the Orioles are gonna be the 4th team since 95 to make the offs with a negative differential and you think thats exposes the stat as flawed? Youre a moron
Smart Guy September 19, 2012 19:52
Stats arent bullshit, stats are the result of overall performance, what is bullshit is the idea that its the only way to measure results, they are a good indicative to get an Idea but to live and die by stats without allowing other factors is bullshit. Living by stats is part of the reason people hate Girardi and laugh at the binder, but apparently its only wrong when he lives by the stats but not you.
You seem mad, and I have to believe that it irks you that besides your hypothetical theories, I am right.
Apparently Ubaldo jimenez non ace status is due to a fluke.
Here are facts:
Nomaas stats wanted Ubaldo
Nomaas stats said we shouldnt trade for an OF cause Ibanez and jones were allright
Nomaas stats figured the RISP problem was going to improve
Nomaas stats said that the O’s would come back down to earth
Professor Mike Hunt Izarry September 22, 2012 09:37
In his crude way, he has a good point. “Stats” are just a measurement. Sometimes it is difficult to accurately measure the true underlying factors. This is known to the mathematical cognoscenti as an “observability” problem. You can’t measure the underlying dynamics of a system directly, only certain parameters that are observable. The observable factors don’t fully represent what is going on inside.

I believe that MLB tweeted yesterday that the “Everything Is Disrespectful” Squad has won more games over 14 innings than the Yankees have won extra innings games….
Smart Guy September 19, 2012 12:42
just think about it, this team has won 0 games when trailing after 8, we have one walk off vs the Mets and we do really great with RISP.

Small market baltimore team is doing it without a huge payroll. Read my political and sports columns today. I know it all.

Everyone see my buddy Jesus Montero basically crap the bed. He pretty much gave up.
Smart Guy September 19, 2012 12:41
crap the bed yet hes had a better year than raul ibanez and russell martin.. Must be very motivating to play for a last place team
Dellin Betances September 19, 2012 13:32
Talking about his 0-8 performance against the mighty O’s.

You’re welcome, you plagiarizing motherfucker.
The Pirates September 19, 2012 12:44
We were 19-2 in extra inning games in 1959.
However we’re 2-19 in our last 21 here in 2012.
The Truth September 19, 2012 13:53
Guess what? If Ivan Nova didn’t pitch like ass for two months they would be 7-8 games behind us. I give credit to the O’s but I’ll take my chances against them in a 5 or 7 game series.
Smart Guy September 19, 2012 14:46
problem is at this rate we will only get to face them in a 1 game playoff ;(
The Truth September 19, 2012 14:51
How do you figure one of us has to win the division the other is a wild card. Neither of us would see each other until the divisional round. Which makes no sense. This whole extra wild card was suppoesd to make winning you rdivison “matter” right? Kind of like basing home field advantage in the World Series on the result of a fucking exhibition game.

I believe I have struggled with depression for most of my adult life. I am a recovering alcoholic. The past few years have been challenging for me…my adult daughter was chronically ill, my 30 plus year marriage became very unstable,I lost my job, the home I had lived in for 25 plus years was foreclosed with 90% of my personal effects lost, my spouse filed for divorce. I attempted suicide twice.
