Which is his best season ever?

One thing is certain from looking at both of these seasons — when Robinson Cano walks, he’s unstoppable at the plate (career 5.6% BB rate).

He drove in 20+ more runs in 2010. How many games this season were lost because the 3-4-5 hitters couldn’t drive in a single run?

And how many games were won because he is a great hitter. Only a loser focuses on RBIs and only a loser thinks a player should get a hit every time with RISP. Its a numbers game, and we have the best record in the AL so we are doing something right. If our mouth breathing manager could understand basic in game strategy, we’d probably be resting our players right now.

Focusing on RBIs is dumb cause it depends on the hitters infront of you getting on base and situations change from inning to inning but…..
simple eye test shows you that Cano since arod and teix got hurt did nothing! , he and jeter (shocking) led the team in rally killers and GIDP, his numbers with RISP were pathetic but you have to give it to him , he is heating up at the right time.
that said most of his numbers just like the yankees as a whole consist of garbage time numbers, I mean we lost many close games this year, we were pathetic with RISP as a whole yet we are on top of all batting categories. which leads us to believe most of those numbers are on blow outs and not on overall production in a consistent basis
if you go by stats cano has a statistically consistent year just like Teix year in and year out but when you look at it from the whole season game in and game out you notice how those numbers could be deceiving

Too bad he was one of the leading culprits of the RISP disease
bartonbickle October 2, 2012 01:24
yeah all of you people complaining are right
it’s too bad he couldn’t do more than adding more wins to his team than all but one person in the league

Check his WPA, not his WAR. His WPA in 2010 was much higher because he actually came through with runners on base in 2010. The guy this season almost has as many RBI’s as he does extra base hits. I know using RBI as a metric to say that one hitter>>>other hitter is dumb as hell but Cano did not come through with runners on base this season. No other way to spin it.

Stewartie is the better hitter. So is Andruw Jones, though he has almost reached his hit quota for the month…
