Well, it’s Nick Swisher.
Nick hit .301/.406/.589 in 181 PA with RISP. His .995 OPS ranked 7th in the American League, while his wOBA of .415 ranked 4th in the junior circuit.
In the meantime, just about everyone and their mother wants Swisher to exit the Bronx, as he’s received one of the lowest vote totals in our latest poll, which asks fans who they want back for next season.

I assume that doesn’t include playoffs. Nor does it address his defensive shortcomings. Thanks for the memories, Swish. Now hit the road!

9 playoff games really probably aren’t going to skew the 162 game data that much.
A jerk October 22, 2012 18:45
Last I check Swisher has played in about 40 playoff games in NY not to mention 4 in Chicago and 7 in Oakland. He’s done nothing anywhere.
Swisher's Grin October 22, 2012 13:32
But don’t cha love me, Bro? I dive all over the place trying to make plays. So what if I don’t actually make them or have a giant grin on my face when I fail. I love the Yankees. In 181 post-season at bats I’m batting .169 with a .283 OBP and .305 SLG. And I’ve driven in a grand total of 7 runs in 36 post season games for the Yankees (never once driving in more than 1 run in ANY series). But that’s a small sample size Bro. I love this place.

I LOVE YOU SWISH!

All the dumbass commenters that post here with their phony baseball knowledge just got pwned. Haaahahahahah. Yankee fans definitely do not deserve a good team. Embarassing
Did you go to school? October 23, 2012 07:53
Pwned, I tell you!
PWNED!!

I would think that a lot of people voted not to bring Swisher back based on his contract situation rather than based on a belief that Swisher isn’t “clutch”. If he could come back on a one year deal for about as much as he was making this year then of course the team should want him back. But not on the kind of deal he’s going to get on the open market.
Justin Tuck October 23, 2012 19:11
I voted not to bring Swisher back for a variety of reasons. He is one of the streakiest Yankee hitters; he gets red hot for a week then ice cold for three weeks. And I mean, ICE COLD. Also, his post season performance is the WORST of any ballplayer with at least 50 ABs in the past 10 years. This is not a small sample problem, as this dude has been in the post season in a variety of situations over the years, even winning a WS with no pressure on him personally, and he has still failed to come close to his average counting stats in October. And he is no savant on defense. Lastly, when a guy who is used to being showered with praise every day for making millions in NY hears negative criticism ONCE from his “fans”, he bitches about it like a whiny girl? Sorry, that is a no-no. That incident revealed why we don’t want Swisher… because he can’t block out distractions like most pro athletes can. Take a hike, Sally skirt!
Call me Crazy October 22, 2012 14:28
…but if somebody is willing to give Swisher Carl Crawford money, they can have him.
The Yankees can have another year of Ichiro.. Probably have to over-pay him, but who cares if it’s a one-year deal. And after that, there will be plenty of slightly above average outfielders.
Maybe he can soak John Henry for $150 mil. It’ll suck for a few years when he hits short-porch home runs in the wrong uniform, but it’ll be great in 2019.
Rob from BBD October 22, 2012 14:31
Shhh. This was supposed to be a secret. Next you’re going to be pointing out that by wOBA the Yankees ranked 3rd in MLB w/RISP.
But... October 22, 2012 16:17
Doesn’t Nomaas usually call that a small sample size?
Moe Katorre October 22, 2012 17:25
The problem with Swish isn’t production, it’s age. Wrong side of 30. Cash hit the jackpot in getting Swish In his prime, now let’s not undo that my giving him a stupid contract until he’s 38
Robinson Tilapia October 22, 2012 20:01
Now that’s a small sample size….like when me and Axxisa compare penis size !!!
ps – love u Plouffy and Jjyank
Younger players October 22, 2012 20:01
How about hiring some of us?
Bud Selig October 22, 2012 21:53
That’s a great idea. All you need to do is out up a few losing seasons and I’ll let you spend your own money to sign a few in the draft, or some of those third worlders. But if you insist on continuing to win I’m going to make sure you never have a chance at thr young cheap talent. Out of fairness, of course.
Counter point October 22, 2012 20:30
Swisher is terrible in the playoffs. THAT’S why nobody wants him back. It’s not a small sample size anymore.
Rambo October 22, 2012 20:47
Fuck em
Joanna Garcia October 22, 2012 21:58
That is amazing! We are similar in that we have a ton of talent but can’t make it work for sweeps week. We’ll be sad while we sleep on our $2k sheets.
Tradenickswisher October 23, 2012 00:15
Bye Nick, all the regular season numbers mean nothing. Your playoff struggles show what a truly average player you are at best. Go feast on middle relief in Queens. They will love your cool side burns and use of the word dude.
Nick Social October 23, 2012 00:37
There sure are a lot of bitter faggots on this board.
Brandon October 23, 2012 00:42
I’m never one to judge a player’s talent or ability based on playoff performance. It’s frustrating short-term wise but it doesn’t compare to 162 games. Still, he’s not worth the contract he supposedly wants. So, thanks for everything Swish.
Makemesomefoodho October 23, 2012 08:17
Would have been nice if cashmoron would have grabbed Chris young from Arizona.
Joe Páwlikowski October 26, 2012 15:42
Put Nunez in RF. That sexy little spic can play. Oh la la.
