…of those happy times.
NY Times:
Pettitte has informed the Yankees that he wants to keep playing, which is what the organization expected all along, and the sides are closing in on a one-year contract that would pay him at least $10 million. They also expect to have a deal soon with Rivera, who got $15 million last season, when he pitched nine games before tearing his right anterior cruciate ligament.

Lol at that picture but what about joakim soria as a set up man? I mean he has said that he wants to be a closer but if he were a Yankee that’s the only exception he would make to be a set up man. Hes coming off of TJ surgery so he would be a couple million cheaper then if he had pitched last year (maybe between 3-8 million) depending on if it’s a multi year deal or 1 year possibly with multiple options for years after.

To be fair, I think we all would rather see Pettitte come back and either succeed, or fail with the unaccountable excuse of “Well what can you say, he’s really old?”, rather than another trade that bombs horribly (Pineda) or free agent flop-job (Burnett, Vazquez). If we have to limp through the next couple seasons because of aging stars and brutal contracts (and let’s be honest, we HAVE to) I’d rather do it watching guys I know and respect as players.

Free agent flop? I was traded for…twice. Awful jackass.

I remember nomaas celebrating when we reacquired you and Nick the Stick. Good times.

That’s right, I’m sorry. Please remove your name from the flop-job category and add it to the trade bomb. My apologies for my point still standing anyway.

nododon on September 26, 2011 OK, right now silver is down 30% (now at 28+ an ounce) . Please explian .. Do you think this is an opportunity for the elite to accumulate more physical? Will it climb back up and go ballistic now? I have been hearing this scenario for years now.

Don’t write off Pineda as a bad deal yet.

Pettitte was one of the best starters in the AL last year. This is nothing but good news.

Why does Cashman look like me here?
Phieleblunt November 30, 2012 02:27
Time to bring Torre back….to catch that is. He was an MVP, well rested, familiar with pitching staffs in both leauges and there is an opening.

I concur.
