Cashman is only a puppet of the Steinbrenner boys. They’ve already set the price and no deals will be made that goes over that price. So Brian cannot hear Alex above the blaring sounds of cheapness issuing forth from the Steinbrenner camp. Be prepared to sit the playoffs out for the next few years.
I’m not sure why people are acting like the Yankees should be scared. The Jays got a bunch of guys who were on the same crappy team. They couldn’t do anything in Miami, why would we be worried now.
Finally some sense, Tim. We’re not getting any from No Maas. Only little-girl panic. If Johnson can return to form, that’s a true ace, but he was healthy last year, after big injuries, and was only so-so, with a diminished fastball. Other than that, there’s nobody the Blue Jays got who we’d want on our team. We need youth & life & guys who don’t make enough to worry that they’re going to choke in the playoffs. It’s going have to come from within the organization. (Although I’d be happy to sign Napoli to a 2-year deal, play him 80-100 games at C, work in one of our young backstops, and keep Napoli in the lineup backing up Tex or DHing)
