Star Ledger / Associated Press:
Catcher Eli Whiteside and the New York Yankees have agreed to a one-year contract worth $625,000 in the major leagues and $200,000 in the minors.
The 33-year-old, claimed off waivers from San Francisco on Nov. 5, was 1 for 11 in 12 games for the Giants this year. He hit .224 with one homer and 20 RBIs in 60 games at Triple-A Fresno.

This is the deal that takes them over the top! The Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders that is.

.224 in a shitty division of the minors. Not .200 in the AL East. Either way, his offense and defense both are terrible. I do not know who is worse. I did not think they could find someone worse than Chris Stewart, but they succeeded, mightily. If you ask me, Whiteside belongs with the dark side (Red Sux).

Whiteside. Stewart. They’ll get Posey in 10 years.

I’m the only Manning that matters in this town. Now kiss my rings.

I know you guys didn’t wanna see this happen, but Ichiro is coming back for another year! At a BARGAIN of a price too! Thumbs up means you realize this is a great move (he hit .322 with Yanks). Thumbs down means you’re a fool who is embarrassed for being so against his resigning and are trying to hide behind your insecurities.
Serious question November 27, 2012 15:24
If someone doesn’t want Ichiro back, this means they are insecure?
Person With Common Sense November 28, 2012 01:55
What he is saying is that the masses of anti-Ichiro-resigning “fans” on this site who screamed “old age” and swore the Yankees should avoid him, will thumb down the post because they feel stupid now that he has been resigned and they have realized they look like fools. Insecure people hide behind their ignorance and media-mandated opinions, and respond with hate (thumbs down), rather than thinking for themselves and taking things for what they are.

As long as Nunez plays 130 games we should all be happy. My pie chart told me so.
Cervelli November 27, 2012 18:01
This guy will get more ABs than me in the majors for some reason, even though I hit .450 with the bases loaded and .315 with RISP.

This is a good thing. Now the question of “Who will back-up Romaine in triple A?” is answered.
