1. The Yankees do not have a third baseman.
2. The Yankees want cheap 1-year deals.
Can someone please explain this??
The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with free-agent third baseman Eric Chavez on a one-year, $3 million deal, reports CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman.
We’re not even sure what to say, other than to ask: is Youkilis coming? Past photoshops aside, he’s a prime rebound candidate who got killed on BABIP. A one-year deal for him would be smart.
Or are the Yankees now only interested in guys who will play for free?

Don’t you worry, I’ll play one year at league minimum, and I played with Jeter, Rivera, and Pettitte too, so the fans will love it.

Open letter to the Steinbrenners: I beg of you. Please sell the Yankees to someone who wants to win! You have ruined the most glorious franchise in sports! You are penny pinching incompetents! Your father is rolling over in his grave! PLEASE! Sell the club now and make your money! Sell before you totally destroy the club!

Dang keppinger GONE Chavez GONE Napoli GONE Haren GONE Victorino GONE Upton Gone.
I don’t know about you but if george was still here(R.I.P.) all or most of these players would be in pinstripes. Arod would be gone and granderson would be traded. Also we probably would have king Felix by trade of some sort. I like the idea of getting younger but can’t it just hold off for like 2 more years. Also I know you can’t have enough starting pitching but I think we need to trade Hughes because we have
1.CC
2.KURODA
3.PETTITTE
4.HUGHES/PINEDA WHEN HE GETS BACK
5.NOVA/PHELPS/WARREN/POSSIBLE FREE AGENT.
Also our lineup right now looks like this:
CF GARDNER
SS JETER
2B CANO
1B TEX
LF GRANDERSON UNLESS HE PLAYS RF
DH PLATOON OF SOME SORT
RF DICKERSON/MAYBE HAIRSTON
3B MINOR LEAGUER/JAYSON NIX
C PROB CERVELLI/STEWART/ROMINE
That’s not a very solid lineup. But 3B MiLB options are David Adams.Ronnie Mustelier. Corona Joseph. and free agent. Now I like Dickerson as an everyday player but people see him as a platoon so I’m just assuming. Also AJ P could be our catcher which I would insert him in the 5 hole and push everyone back. Also granderson is not a for sure outfielder which shows our outfield could possibly look like CF GARDNER LF DICKERSON AND RF ICHIRO (or other free agent like Scott Hairston or Jason Bay or even out minor leaguer Jose pirela or my not real cousin but we have the same last name Adonis Garcia are solid outfielders/hitters could help to balance out all the lefties. Remember theres always grady sizemore to take a chance on to make more lefties. Then at DH I see ibañez coming back or maybe the yanks will sign Travis hafner to one of those take a chance contracts like they did with jones/Chavez/nix/colon/Garcia etc.
Ummm... December 6, 2012 00:40
Nobody’s listening to you. You’re the same guy who wants to re-sign Phil Hughes, haha.
Kevin December 5, 2012 16:27
Hal is no George. He wants to be fiscally responsible – but that translates into just another team. George understood overspending to get stars filled the stands and led to an economic empire. Ever see video of Mattlingly in the 80′s? The stands were empty & we’re heading back there. Also, Cashman was always bothered that he was discredited by the huge money advantage and he’s out to prove he can do it on a budget. Congratulations – you now have a mediocre franchise.
Facts Please December 5, 2012 16:39
The stands were empty in the 80s because going to the Bronx at night
was not a great option.
The Mets were drawing better but at no point was NYC not a Yankee Town.
We were always middle of the pack attendance wise until 1998.
NYC has 8 trillion entertainment options & now with HDTV what is the point of spending $500 to take a family to a game?

Been watching, living and dying with Yanks from Stengal, Mantle, Jery Lumpe, Andy Kosco, Horace Clark, Thurmon, Billy, Houk, Paulie, etc etc and been through tough times as well as good. Today, I am done! The ownership is taking lessons from the Cleveland Indians. What a shame and disgrace Cashman is to what greatness means. Hal Steinbrenner is pathetic, but Cashman shoulders the blame for mismanaging way too many trades. We expect owners to be stupid, but not General Mangers where TF is Gene Michael when you need him?
Captfrank December 5, 2012 16:35
The new Steinbrenner plan create a team that can not score suns so Rivera never is needed to close a game, nice jr keep stepping on the hotdogs are you sure your related to George Steinbrenner Sr cause you certainly do not think anything similar, you must be the red headed stepchild

FROM ESPNNY.COM
“Well, I think it would be more the latter,” Boras said. “I just had a meeting with [Brian Cashman] and he just said he is not in on a lot of players that he liked. He would like to be in on more, but right now he is working with ownership to see where he can go. I don’t think any final decisions have been made, but at this point in time he is working through it.”
Ownership kills the payroll with a 27 Million AAV for a gayboy cripple steroid fraud of a 3rd baseman and they don’t have the small chinese nuts to clean up their fucking mess!!
FUTHAFUCKA greedy bitches..sell the fucking team !!

This is going to be Mariano Rivera’s last season. What a shame he will be ending his career on a shit team that will probably win about 77 games.
Correction December 6, 2012 13:24
What a shame IT will be. Mariano is the furthest thing from a “shame” you will ever see in baseball.

I make the sentence accurate: What a shame, he will be ending his career on a shit team that will probably win about 77 games.
Rambo December 6, 2012 09:12
Fuck em. That aside, I’m excited to see the Yankees operate within the same fiscal range as a lot of other teams, on a quote unquote “level” playing field. If the front office (including levine and co.) didn’t hand out stupid contracts that completely blew everyone out of the water (mainly A rod, tex) then we wouldn’t be in this situation anyway.
When has buying big $ guys ever worked anyway? 2009? Let’s be honest, if A-Rod didn’t turn into Roy Hobbs that postseason, then there’d still be a drought. I’m not against signing free agents, I am however against signing them to a retarded contract that they’ll never live up to and only serves to give the fans vitriol towards them when they inevitably start shitting the bed.
I’m saying that I’m glad the Yankees are no longer the team to mention in contracts talk to get “that little extra” and have to compete on a more level financial playing field. Besides, it’s 189 million, you people act like it’s 9 million. If they can’t be succesful with 189 million then I seriously question the baseball minds running this franchise. I’d rather trade that “edge” in the interest of fairness anyday, sorry if some of you are so concerned with seeing them win a world series that you’d toss this ideal in the trash.
At this point in time (and pretty much since 2002) the season has had one of two outcomes:
1: fuckin yankees are supposed to win with that payroll anyway (2009 only)
2: bahahahaha they had all the extra payroll and STILL couldn’t win?! (Every year other than 2009)
The amount of $ isn’t what’s important, it’s how you use it. I’d rather a team with an 80 million dollar budget that made every dollar count, than a 200 million dollar budget that threw millions at losers like Wright and Pavano.
Conan the Librarian December 6, 2012 09:21
I hear you, but the problem is they are now skipping out on guys are being signed to very reasonable deals, and in some cases, a discount (Chavez). It’s great not to give out huge ridiculous deals, but it’s another to be completely stupid. They are exercising financial restraint in the wrong areas.
