Girardi on switching Gardner & Granderson in CF/LF:
“The question is — for us to sit here and stew over — if you flip-flop them, does it make you better defensively,” Girardi said. “… Do they cover more ground one way or the other, because they both can run. They both have strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes a guy goes better one way than the other. How does it work out? It’s just something we have to evaluate.”

Joe apparently needs more time to decide on what is plainly obvious.

Don’t worry. I’ll solve this problem by trading Gardner to the M’s in exchange for Franklin Gutierrez and Raul Ibanez. That way, we don’t need to worry about anything more than one year remaining on a contract and can complete our roster with oft-injured or over the hill players. If either works out this year we’ll re-sign them in 2014 for one year, $16 million deals. Some teams regard young, cost controlled players as an invaluable way to have payroll flexibility. I prefer old, overpaid players on one-year contracts so we don’t block all the up and coming prospects I’ve developed over the years.

Lets hope. I’d certainly like to see some payoff to my 20 years of anti-Yankee scheming,

Girardi – “I really see the intentional walk becoming a bigger part of our defensive arsenal”

The answer to this conundrum is to permit open carry in Yankee Stadium.

What the hell is wrong with Joe Girardi? It’s right in front of his face!

Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick, relax everyone, including Nomaas staff and the assembled mob. Girardi’s statement is intended for the media. They’ve already made the decision to switch but they’re making it seem like it’s an agonizing decision. Otherwise, dickholes like Lupica will write inflammatory shit like: “How poorly the Yankees are treating Granderson, a true class act and one of the few African-Americans I feel comfortable speaking with one-on-one other than either of the Gumbel brothers, NBC’s Lester Holt and OJ back in the day. Incidentally, did you know Curtis’s parents are teachers? Well, in any case maybe Gary Sheffield was on to something re: The Yankees organization blah blah blah…”
Then again, if they actually keep Granderson in CF then fuck it, the guy above is right about 4th place.

this is a pretty sickening comment. I don’t think the Yankees are playing coy to avoid seeming racist. sure seems like you are, though…
