Despite Hal’s assurances that he will spend what it takes to ensure the Yankees are a championship-caliber team, when we last checked in on the the team’s World Series odds things were looking somewhat dour. On January 26th, the market put the Yankees at 14/1. They had not been anything worse than a top 3 team by WS odds in over a decade, yet here they were tied for 8th. Granderson and Teixera’s injuries are not long term, but they certainly haven’t helped the Yankee’s October prospects. Here is what the field of “contenders” looks like as of March 7th:
| Washington Nationals | 7/1 |
| Toronto Blue Jays | 15/2 |
| Detroit Tigers | 8/1 |
| Los Angeles Angels | 17/2 |
| Los Angeles Dodgers | 17/2 |
| Cincinnati Reds | 12/1 |
| San Francisco Giants | 12/1 |
| Atlanta Braves | 16/1 |
| Philadelphia Phillies | 16/1 |
| Texas Rangers | 16/1 |
| Tampa Bay Rays | 18/1 |
| New York Yankees | 18/1 |
The Yankees’ chances of winning the World Series have fallen 27% off from their January level. Eleven of the 29 other MLB teams have odds that are as good as or better than the Yankees. They are inching towards being a middle of the pack team. And the front office is going to do nothing about it.

So them winning it would make it a Fairytale of New York?

With all due respect isn’t it time to speculate on who
may buy this team? Hal, no matter what he says doesn’t give
a fuck about owning this team. Honestly does anyone trust this
asshole to do anything. Hank is at least good for a funny quote, but
this helmet headed prick is a joke. George must be doing cartwheels
in the afterlife
Bud Selig March 7, 2013 20:27
Of course the front office has nothing to do with it. Give credit where credit is due, I’ve turned the entire economic foundation of the sport on its ear to put the Yankees in this position.

Not developing players and making shit long-term signings is what doomed this team. Not Bud Selig.

I’m pretty sure the owners of this sports franchise are in it to make as much money as possible and frankly don’t give a damn what place the team is in when the season is over. They have more important things to worry about than the fan base. Like what size island they can buy.
Uhhhh... March 7, 2013 23:24
…isn’t it more fun when they go into the season as underdogs?

Don’t worry. I’ll make a plethora of trades with all the minor league talent I’ve developed over the years.

This roster looks worse than the roster I had in 1991.

I think the pitching is comparable.

Who gives a shit about world series odds? Did the odds help from 2001-2012 (sans 09)? Baseball is too unpredictable to put any stock into some vegas bullshit.

This site jumped the shark…
In addition, hiding the comments (read: douchebags) as a feeble attempt to appear classy is like putting lipstick on a pig (read: your sister).

Your mom sucked me off in a parking garage stairway last week. She loves the pipe.
