With his second complete-game shutout in less than a month, Ivan Nova baffled San Francisco allowing only 6 hits and a walk while striking out 7.

The 26-year old is a definite bright spot in an otherwise cloudy season for the Bombers. With Phil Hughes almost certainly leaving via free agency and Andy Pettitte retiring, the Yankees will desperately need this version of Ivan Nova in 2014.

In 132.1 IP, Nova has a sparking 3.13 ERA / 3.42 FIP / 3.69 xFIP. In 2012, his xFIP was 3.92 (despite a 5.02 ERA), due to a career-high K rate, so a rebound this season was not a huge stretch.

In fact, for pitchers with a minimum of 130 innings, his 3.13 ERA ranks 8th in the AL / his 3.42 FIP ranks 11th in the AL / his 3.69 xFIP ranks 19th in the AL.

Rather awesome.
