Dellin Betances Mike Tyson NoMaas Yankees
Dellin’s slurve is impregnable.

2.1 IP with 6 straight Ks — now has 39 K in 22.1 IP / 15.72 K/9 — Sick**.

Chase Whitley also deserves some major props for pitching 4.2 scoreless innings in his MLB debut. He deserved a shot and capitalized on the opportunity.

Credit to Joe Girardi too for some excellent bullpen management, removing Whitley for Betances with 2 outs in the 5th and the Mets threatening — and then summoning Robertson to get the final four outs.

**For those advocating Betances be moved to the starting rotation, here’s a key point to remember — Dellin’s career was on the verge of implosion as a starter. He basically went Rick Ankiel with enormous BB rates and no control. He was even demoted to Double-A in 2012, after walking 8.3 per nine innings at Triple-A. His professional career was literally saved when the Yankees moved him to the bullpen as a last resort.
